There having been a respectable amount of time passed since the End of the Year Contests, and yet another (short) month pressing upon us, it is time to get our Monthly Contest for January done! While the End of the Year contest didn't turn out quite the way I had expected (*ahem*), I remain firmly in the "try, try again" camp.

Speaking of showdowns, this month has a doozy of a showdown between some pretty formidable characters. The nominees for Unit of the month are:
