Intro

This NES takes place in the early 1800's in a tiny South American country called Fedelista. For more than two centuries it had been a Spanish colony in the region, but in around 1794 a rebellion occured in which a small group striving for a democratic goverment (modeled after the recently independent British colonies) succeeded in implenting it in Fedelista.

However, lacking much popular support, Fedelista has sunk into various quarrels and bickerings amongst goverment officials, and the ever-powerful plantation-owners looking to control as much as they could. The year is 1804, and the conditions are just horrible. Many people are poor and hungry, and even the rich are barely anything compared to their European counterparts. It is time to take action. Whether you're a poor philosopher in a small town, a retired general, or a rich plantation-owner, you must strive to make things better for not only yourself, but fellow Fedelistians!

--------------------

Rules

First, simple help in setting up the template. Your "faction" is just the name of your group, and the leader is the name of the revolutionary at the head of it. Make sure to specify what he was before the revolt. The choices are:

Intellectual

+ Will gather support from the masses more quickly
- May have trouble in advanced military planning

Ex-General

+ Will have a distinct advantage in military manuevering
- May have trouble gaining support from the people

Plantation Owner

+ Starts out with 10,000 credits instead of 5,000
- Slightly worse off in military matters than general, and popular support compared to intellectual

Anyways, once we're done with that, we go to credits. You recieve 5,000 to begin with (unless you're a plantation owner) and can increase this amount in various ways. You can increase both your army and gold at the same time, but to do this you'd have to take a risk in the gathering of gold. For example, here are the two possibilities.

- Recruit men into army, pillage local banks (possibly succesful robbery)
- Sell crops at market (Guarranteed increase in credits)

As for the army... you buy troops based on how much money you have, or, how good you are in persuading the local populace to your cause. For example, you could not increase your army at all, but if you gain support from the common man, you could get plenty of loyal, but inexperienced, men to pick up their muskets and join your cause. On the other hand, even if the people hate you, you could still use your wealth to get you a number of trained soldiers.

Navy is of little importance here. If you have a navy, it will usually be privateers who pledge loyalty to your cause, or ships filled with explosives.

The amount you start with is the same throughout, and you can see it below.

Goverment is simple enough. Democracy, Republic, Parlimentary Democracy, Kingdom, anarchy, you get the drill.

Base is your base of operations. Name a town or region on the map where your movement will be centered (hint: don't do it in the capital city).

Hints and Tips

- Don't choose a starting location too close to the capital. In my humble opinion, starting out somewhere in the country and working your way up is probably the way to go.

- Build up support while you can. The goverment probably won't find out about your little movement unless your force it to their attention. Remember, they out number you 200 - 1 at the start, so unless you have a plan you might not want to declaer an outright revolt right away.

- Explore all possible options. In this game, almost everything is fair game. Look at the updates and try to figure out what would be the best thing to do, without limiting yourself to the good old "raise army", "raise economy" orders. Enemy ships coming your way? Load explosives onto rafts and send 'em at them. Goverment officials getting suspicious? Bring out the posion.

- Use the other factions to your advantage. This team shouldn't have any longterm teamwork because only one person can win, but you might want to base your actions based on what you hear the other rebels are doing. For example, if a rebel or two on the other side of the country are declaering open revolt and the goverment is sending a sizable chunk of it's army to exterminate them, you might want to take bigger risks and such, seeing that you won't get the normal amount of soldiers sent at you.

- Start near the edges of the map. The farther away you are from the goverment's stronghold, the more land you will be able to claim freely the goverment's rule begins to crumble.

Most Feared

7. Fedelista Liberation Organization (Naervod)
6. the Sons of Fedelista (Warman 17)
5. The Holy Empire (Puglover)
4. The Freedom Legion (Heine)
3. New Federalista (Spacetraveler)
2. Fedelista Liberatoin Movement (Volum)
1. Armada del Pirate (Plexus)

This above list was meant to show which faction the goverment fears the most, and which it fears the least. If you're first, it could mean that they're most worried about you, or that you're the only one they know that much about. If you're at the bottom, it's either because they don't care or because they don't know of you yet. The implications of these rankings are two fold. On one hand, it shows what faction the goverment is most likely to go after, or with the most power. On the other hand, if you're at the top, it means that you are the winner as of this point.

Pug, could you give me your starting location? If you don't give it to me by the first update I'll place you in a town of my choice.

I'm waiting for perhaps one more person by tonight, and then hopefully I'll update.

update in a minute

the little "target" dots, mean special things mentioned in your stories. So if I said there was a suspected armory to the South, the "target dot" represents where it's rumored to be.

January 1804

Rumors of small rebellions spring up throughout Fedelista, but the corrupt goverment doesn't take any action. Whether this is because they deem the rebels a minor threat, or because they simply don't yet know of their existance, is anybody's guess. El Presidente Juan Vargas announces great things planned for his birthday in July.

The Fedelista Liberation Organization is set up in a small fishing town between Alokakok and Spiritsona. Their leader, intellectual Juan de San Cristobal, had recently come to Fedelista from Spain where he recieved a college education. Telling tales of social equality, Juan de San gathers together 200 voulenteers; simple peasent men with an assortment of farming tools and muskets. There are rumors of a goverment armory to the South, and a few of the better-off members have succesfull tobacco fields.

Near the city of Encore, a plantation owner and religious man, Francisco Dela Vega, gathers about 100 followors. His funds number 10,000 credits, and a recent unexcpected surge in pepper prices at the local market give him another 2000 on top of that. The goverment doesn't know about them yet, but a local land lord who has it good under the current regime is getting suspicious.

And in the backwater town of Ibana, aspiring republicans unite behind a former general, Senior Espaco. Some of his men are equopped with riffles from his private collection, and they even dig up an old cannon. One of his men recieves word that there will be a great celebration in Ibana with many local officials coming up. There is great debate as to what to do.

In New Federalista, the debate over what to do about the local officials has sparked some rivalries between several luietenants. The general came to the conclusion that the best solution would be to capture the officials and use them to get a ransom. Then he would take over the whole of Ibana using its income to bolster his growing republic by taxing goods and threatening to shutdown businesses unless a bribe is given. In Ibana the Senate for this newly formed republic is to be formed in order to bolster public opinion for New Federalista.

ORDERS:

Take officials hostage and get ransom
Declare martial law over Ibana and reap the benifits of economy through taxes and bribes.
Set up Senate in Ibana begin to build public support.
Buy 200 Grenadiers -2500 Credits

ARMADA DEL PIRATA

Faction: Armada del Pirata
Leader: Admiral Diego "Serpiente del Mar" López Pacheco Cabrera (Ex-general)
Credits:
Army: 100 Volunteers
Navy:
Goverment: Constitutional Dictatorship (Law of Parle)

Need orders from Naervod and Pug, and then update will hopefully be tonight.

Faction: The Freedom Legion
Leader: General Anglo Dexteria (ex-General)
Credits: 5000
Army: 100 volounters
Navy:
Goverment: Facism
Base: Aha

Orders:
Gather an army of 100 Dragons, 200 Riflemen and 10 Cannons.
Send out flyers into the city of Aha, tell them that we are fighting for more rights for the normal class and will do this island to our base and the most important part of the new nation.

PS: I think we need some ships and airunits.....

I'll give you your naval units, but unless you want a balloon, there are no arial units.

P.S. It's nice that I'm getting a bunch of new players, but where are Naervod and Pug ? I wont update without them.

The FLO had started magnificently, with the army growing already. However, there were rumors of an armory nearby to further increase the power of the army. Juan de San Cristobal decided to send some men to go check it out, as it could be potentially useful.

ORDERS:
Give speeches to peseants in the countryside, promoting equality and socialism and urging them to help work and fight for it.
Have the plantation owners contribute to the funds for the good of equality and the people.
Explore the guard armory to the southwest.
Buy 10 cannons and 300 riflemen

ARMADA DEL PIRATA

Admiral Diego López Pacheco Cabrera surveyed his fleet from a balcony. San San Harbor had become his. Known as El Serpiente del Mar (The Sea Serpent) by his enemies, he had made a hero out of himself in the Spanish American War, but he was ashamed by his beloved Spain's surrender to "those bastard Americans". He later defected to the Fedelistan cause, having lost all faith in his beloved Spain and his coward of a King. La Isla de San San would be only the beginning.

Orders:
Post Pro-Cabrera Propoganda in the La Ciudad de San San.
Seize all old Spanish frigates in the Harbor.
Recruit 200 Dragoons
Rob the San San Customs Office with 50 Dragoons, 20 Volunteers
