Originally I started this with the intention of just making a few changes to civ trying to make it a little more fun for me to play, but slowly over the last month has grown far larger then I ever imagined. I was going to release this a while ago but decided to hold off and have since decided to delay it and see if we cant create some competition for DyP ;)

Im looking for any help I can get on this, expecially with building/wonder graphics and unique "tribe" units. Right now its just me and el justo working on it.

Now about the mod.
This is being designed as a replacement for the vanilla rules, so whenever you start a new game civ 3 will use this mod and generate a new map.

UNITS
104 new units ( thanx to all the great unit creators)
These units include around 40 flavor units, 20 near future units, and 60 additional units for ancient-modern ages. With the main goal of the new units being to add an additional layer of strategy and realism

TECHS
Around 40 new techs
with new additions to all ages and extension of modern age into the near future. I will try to get some previews up soon.

plus an additional 20 or so for all

A few values have been changed with the goal being slightly larger population sizes

RULES

There have been quite a few rule changes. Including the addition of enslave and added impact of technology. The power spread from modern units to ancient units is 50% larger now.

i like the looks of it. off the top of my head, i can think of the following civs...not sure if you want ancient civs in place of modern civs or vice versa...
australia, canada, indonesia, poland, cuba, venezuela, colombia, argentina, maybe chile and peru. s america is vastly underpopulated in regular civ3. philippines, vietnam, pakistan, afghanistan to name a few more.
it'll be impossible to get all of them in the game. but these are a few that could be added.
resources: opium, buffalo, silver, natural gas, wheat, citrus fruits, bronze, clay, lumber/timber, rice
i like the govts and the added specialists. how will they affect gameplay?
there could be hundreds of new buildings and techs. what is the size of the map?
 
Any size map you want

Ive played quite a few games with this, I stopped using vanilla rules a long time ago, and the game balance seems really good. Ive seen the AI use all the governments, though for some reason they seem to be a little addicted to Theocracy. Ive only just added the specialists so ill have to wait see how that works out.
As far as the units go, I know players are a lot better at using stategy than the AI so I did change some rules in favor of them. But for the most part they use the new units pretty well. They especially love the attack choppers. They just love to do hit and run attacks into your territory.

EDIT: As far as civs go, I want to limit it only to civs that have had a large impact on history. The Goths were a ancient tribe from the area that is now russia. They fled to Europe because of the mongols. Were treated like Sh@% by the Romans and ended up rebelling against them.
 
i would have to use a world map w/ starting locations. no?
let me know if i could work on any one specific thing like buildings or tech advances or civilopedia entries for certain eras. if i know what to look for i can narrow it down better. :cool:
 
I have it set up so when you want to use the mod instead of loading it, you just click new game. Select what size map you want, temperature, wetness etc etc yadda yadda......

The buildings are really stumping me right now. Just not enough imagination I guess. I still need unique buildings for democracy, republic, monarchy and oligarchy. So I guess thats the first area I could really use your help in.

I think im done with the tech tree. Maybe just a little tweeking here and there. A few of the techs still need original icons. I had to reuse several of them. If I can figure out how to get a pic of it Ill save it and put it on here.

EDIT: speeking of techs, I forgot to mention those in the original post. Can I upload the .biq file onto xdrive so you can take a look at it?
 
Do you want me to send you all the files? I think that would probally be the easiest, instead of trying to explain everything

So, what Techs have you added? Do you need Icons? I'll be happy to make some myself, if you'd like.

But of course I also welcome Ideas on any of the governments.
 
ok. i've done some preliminary searches for ancient era/govt specific buildings...the best i could suggest at this point is to go into the graphics/modpack forum, sort by thread starter and check out these two creators in particular: Rufus T. Firefly and Ukas. Both have created a good share of buildings for all eras. The DyP govt specific buildings are nice, too. here's a link
