PBEM EVENT : CFC vs Apolyton WWII Pacific Challenge

I have sent a challenge to Apolyton for a WWII Pacific PBEM, us as Japan, them as allies.

They have accepted. Or in the exact long wording from Daniel Day Lewis in gangs of New York : "challenge accepted" (without the spitting !).

They have a team of four allies (Theseus, Paddy the Scot, Godking and jsherl).

Now who can we trust with our pride ?

You can volunteer or give your opinion since that player will represent you.

IMHO, (no offense to the others (including myself)) I think Dogboy, Eric_A and RJ would be our best shots (skilled, experienced in that scenario,...) but I have not met all the CFC PBEM players, especially in that scenario.

The players will need to agree on a basic set of rules (like razing or no-razing, etc...) and maybe a referee and after that the event will be held at both places with I hope a very good spoiler thread for all the CFC members interested in following the challenge !

Well...I could maybe referee, but I have never played the Japanese, so I'm not in on that. I think Eric_A is a good choice, so maybe we should strong-arm him...

I am interested in chipping in my 2 cents. I have been known to do some warring, plus I don't mind going toe to toe with anybody.
Edit: Actually the first turn is the most important. I believe Eric_A used a devestating city grab in a PBEM that I lurked in, where he got some 10+ cities.
That type of planning plus a focused emphasis of what to do with the fleet would be the tricky part. As a pure VP grab, I have won on Sid in 15 turns as Japan, and would use many of the same tactics here. The most key thing is to protect our resources, and whup China hard and early.
Things to watch for are the gifting of Ningsia to the U.S. and then the subsequent airlift.
I would skew the map in our favor by using a huge map with the WM bug, and then difficulty to Sid. That should highly delay the dreaded A-bomb, as well as making corruption for our far flung empire pretty high, but our core will be fine. I have many more idea's but do not want them read by possible lurking enemies.

How about a tag-team approach? Get 4 or 5 players to play Japan. Each
player plays 1 turn and passes the game on to the next player.

BTW - Playboy and Misfit_travel are also great players.

Playboy and Misfit can volunteer. But I would not have nominated them since I have never played with Playboy and hardly see Misfit (except in ToS or USCW).

The 1 turn by player would be too complicated. We need one person and one strategy - to win !

So do you accept Eric ? Dogboy has declined.
But you have proved good and I know you are quite familiar with Dogboy's strategy too.
Apart from the game itself, we would need of course a good spoiler thread which takes a bit of time.

Eric_A I think your proposition is appreciated. I hope you can act as advisor as well, you'd be most welcome.

When I know the name of our "god-like" player ;-) I will start the actual thread and the player will be able to create his own spoiler thread so we can all watch with delight !

Eric...I will send some of the saves to you for screenshots (since my stupid computer refuses to do them!). I will do the best I can. Somebody will have to send me the game, however, unless it is one that came with C3C (without changes).

BTW, if you people feel like you want to maintain the high profile of CFC, come and join ISDG-2. It is inter-site Democracy PBEM played in C3C patch 1.22. We are battling against 4 other teams from various sites. You can register as a citizen in this thread.
