Hi all !

Well, at the beginning i just wanted to redraw the mountains graphics , but finally , i 've changed much more things .

All is far from perfect , all textures don't reloop smoothly and some trees group are too bigs. I will update this post with the latest modifications. But i think it's playable. I hope you like it and i'am expecting all your critics.

  Wow

The GRass and the Irrigations are looking very very nice ...
the Polar ice too,

Only the rivers can be made better

Beautiful Terrain :goodjob:

That looks heaps good, especially the beaches and snow capped mountains. Would it be possible to add more 'life' to the ocean - it just looks a tad too smooth for me.

Those mountains look amazing! I was wondering if, while you touch these graphics up, maybe it's possible to get them to, sort of, look more connected and less... distinct from each other?

I haven't used any of the other terrain modifications available on this site, but I'll definitely use yours :goodjob:

W:eek:W!!!
Womoks, you've done it again!
Unfortunately I will probably not use most of this graphics set, as the terrain doesn't mix well (between types the contrast is far too high...) and I am still a slave to Sn00py...
Anyhow, keep up the good work and make that sea look less smooth!

you could, but you would have to go through and paste in sn00py's coastal areas onto womok's terrain files and then go through and paint the land to match womok's while leaving the water untouched. You would then have to reduce the amount of colors back down to 256. Let us know when you're done, k?

Stunning, is the first word that springs to mind! You've rebuilt a large part of the games' terrain. Cool!
I looove:love: your mountains and the little icebergs around the coastal tundra, but I'm not so sure I'm all over the colours. They're very dark.

And the terrain doesn't blend to well...

thanks !

gosh , maybe my monitor brightness is too high ? :)

Now i'm reworking to finish my units. But i'll soon release a lighter version of my terrains.

yknow, i used to have my monitor set to 100% brightness, sat on that for about 2 yrs, then one day I decided to lower it for fun, and the more I lowered it, the better everything looked lol

It sits on 50% now and I can get a fair idea how to make something look not too bright or too dark.

what percentage is yours on Womoks?

I really love the mountains, very detailed and more realistic.
I'm dying to have a play round with the mountains, just to see if I can do some other interesting stuff to them, but I don't want to interfere with your work. :)

Thanks very much for all your advices , Snoopy !

Well , for my monitor , i was thinking it was set correctly , but i must be wrong! I used "adobe monitor settings" to balance it .
As i am working as a comics illustrator , all my works are printed on paper , and it was very difficult to get the good settings between screen and real issue. I've recently bought a new monitor , but it seems that there is already some brightness problem.
Maybe you know some good tools to resolve this ?

Feel free to modify what ever you want :) just give me some credits ...but i'm sure you could do something great ( maybe add some forests or details to the hills and mountains , i didn't make it because the moutain scale was very different from the trees i've made , but if you have some ideas ...:king: )

Bye !

Hi all!
Terrain graphics is cool, but irrigations on grassland are very poor visible - to many green on green. Because of that I use another ones. But mod in all is very good, and I like to use it.

:king: You are the king Womoks!
I love these graphics! I think your monitor must be just right (although it could be cos I'm from england and were I come from terain is always dark!)

As with Civ II a problem with terrain is that in real life european terrain looks different to american or asian terrain. I realy hope that when an expansion pack is made that there is the possibility of adding more terrain types. That way you could have snoopy terrain for america, and womok terrain for Europe. Now that would be Great! Imagine playing on a real world map, getting in your carravels and traveling to america!

I don't know how possible it would be, BUT here is what I would like:

If there were some way to combine womok and Snoopy's graphic sets into one graphic set, I am all for it. I like the diversity of both, and would to have both in my game.

I like the diversity of the real world, and both sets add greatly individually.

*walks around zombie like* I am a slave to Womok's graphics pack now...

Sorry sn00py! womok's graphics look realer than yers!

One thing that is very much missing from CIV III is swamps! The jungle and swamp of Civ II have been squashed down in to a kind of equatorial forest. But you get swamps all over the world, and for any european mod, the jungle looks very out of place. the pripet marshes in eastern europe played a large part in the eastern front campaign, but if you put in jungle it looks out of place. Recently on a medium earth map I have been making most of russia, east of the urals, tundra, with lots of rivers to represent the cold marshlands that cover most of siberia. I was just getting so annoyed with the russians building size 21 cities in siberia. It is impossible, siberia is just not he same as france. You could not build a city the size of paris in that area! (Also I hve eliminated rivers from areas of spain to represent the fact that it is not ideal farmland).

I used to have a realy good wetlands terrain that I did for CIV II (basicaly an expanse of water on dry land, land units could move acros it, but only slowly) but that was on my old 486, and that is now very dead.

hey, good idea ...
maybe i should replace some little jungle tiles with some swamp ones ?
I could make the graphics , but if you have some idea to implement that ( it would be so great the ability to add some new terrains type )
