The turn chat for the game year beginning 1270 AD is scheduled for Sunday, June 9, 2002 at 11:59 pm (Greenwich time) which is 6:59 pm east coast US time.

Turn chat 1230 AD (June 5) thread.

The modernization of our armed forces has begun and we are on the verge of becoming a truly industrialized nation. We have completed a couple wonders (Smith's and the Forbidden Palace), another is just around the corner (Wall St.) and we are about to embark on a program to try for three more (universal suffrage, theory of evolution and Hoover Dam). We will be working on our railroad system and going for the elusive tech lead!

Please do not use this as a discussion thread! Leaders and governors should now be posting their turn chat instructions here!

Turn chat 1315 AD (June 12)

As of now, the build queues are:

Cyrus - Granary, University, Aqueduct

Alexandria - Aqueduct, University, Market

Heliopolis - Temple, Worker, University, Granary

Please do not change these unless you intend to rush a cultural improvement immediately, then go back to the queue.

There are three workers in Kashmir. The one that's mining by Cyrus should be clearing jungle SE of where he is now. The one that's irrigating by Heliopolis should be mining the mountains, and the one that clearing jungle by Helio can either finish that jungle tile or go start mining.

The entertainer in Alexandria should be working the plains and the citizen working the flood plain should be moved to the mountain. This shouldn't stop the WLTK day. My thinking is this move will get the aqueduct completed quicker.

Heliopolis should have two entertainers. Citizens should be working 1 grassland, 1 hill, 2 montains (1 w/gold, 1/saltpeter), and the rest on the flood plains.

Cyrus is fine.

Railroads are needed around PDX.
Hook up the coal near Civanatoria so we can build the ironworks there!
There are still three knights to be upgraded. Funds allocated during last turn chat.

Cultural Ministry Recommendations

Upon completing its marketplace, Thebes needs a cathedral. It is growing quickly and already had two unhappy citizens.
Upon completing its marketplace, Valhall needs a cathedral to get WLT*D.
Memphis no longer needs a courthouse, and should immediately switch to a temple, to maintain WLT*D with fewer entertainers.
Upon completing its marketplace, Shailonegha needs a cathedral to get WLT*D.
This isn't culture related, but Alexandria has no use for its entertainer.
Cyrus has no obvious use for a granary, and should be immediately switched to its university.
Seattle could use a temple.
San Francisco could make use of cathedral.
Upon completing its marketplace, Miami could use a cathedral.
Chie could use a university.
Anyang no longer has use for a courthouse and should immediately switch to a university.
Mailnalco could use a university after its harbor is complete.
Callisto no longer needs a courthouse and should switch to a university immediately.
Justinian could use a university.

Remember PB to check borders, if sufficient criteria met, change the queue, but be sure to keep limits, such as Chondote is untouchable for itis on a worker program, and many more are and queue changes might be deadly to that plan. Therefore be very cautious.

Building queues:

PDX: prebuild factory with Palace[c]/ Coal plant or wonder?
Pherris:Wall street[c]/ military acadamy

Port Gisnod: marketplace[c]/ temple/ barracks
Miami: marketplace[c]/ Barracks/ Catheadral
Boston: aqueduct[c]/ worker / marketplace

Foreign Affairs Instructions

Turn 0
China, Azteca
Renegotiate peace for their treasury (17 gold and 28 gold).

England.
ROP <-> ROP

Greece:
Today I proposed gpt gifts to improve our relations:
gift 1 gpt (note the attitude)
if the attitude does not improve, another 1gpt gift.

Because of the limited debate time, I give the chat the power to overturn this by vote.

Turn 4
Zulu
Our ROP expires. Try to let it go, if not, go for up to 10 gold on renegotiation. If not, even deal ok.

Turn X
Greece, Iroquois
Try to let the ROPs slide. If they call us, go for up to 10 gold up front. Even deal is ok.

I also want to point out that new Foreign Policy has passed. The Foreign Affairs official stance to other nations' proposed Alliances, MPPs, and Embargos is that they are not to be signed during chat unless specifically noted otherwise. Any proposed agreements should be noted so that we can discuss them on our terms for the following round.

Strider, where are those trade suggestions you showed me in PM? You should post them here.

Domestic Department

Science: 60%
Taxes: 40%

Workers around PDX should be set in groups that finish a rail in 1-2 turns. Each time a rail is finished the workers in the city should be optimized.

The workers built in Chondote should immediately be sent to Thebes, and then given orders to build a railroad to PDX. Workers completed by other cities should immediately begin improving tiles in their province.

The Province of Istar

Fox's Nest: Bank(c), Rifleman, Rifleman (Should we finish researching industrialization before the second rifleman is complete, switch immediately to factory)
Eyr: granary (switch immediately from cathedral), worker, cathedral
Khatovar: university(c), worker, Rifleman, Factory
Malinalco: harbor(c), worker, granary, Factory
Asyut: granary(c), worker, worker, aqueduct
Lutetia: cathedral(c), granary
Chie: barracks (switch from rifleman), rifleman

Switch one of the workers on the mined plains that Fox's Nest shares with Eyr to the mined hills to the SE. Switch one of Eyr's population from the coast to the free mined plain. Use the worker built in Eyr to railroad all tiles that lie between Eyr and Fox's Nest. The worker built in Khatovar should be sent to railroad around Chie, and the workers built in Asyut should cut forests and bring fresh water to the area north of the city. Rails should be built on each newly irrigated tile.

Budget

For the next 8 turns, all gold in excess of 1000 should be allocated for military upgrades. This includes extra gold once Wall Street is constructed. I hope to get at least one veteran rifleman in each border city. I would not doubt it if someone threatened us soon, and I intend our military to be sufficiently equipped to defend our borders.

Once our borders are secure, money will be allocated to other departments. Foreign affairs may spend up to 5gpt should it be needed.

We have made great strides in the modernization of our military forces. All our knights have been upgraded and we have only one musketman unit to upgrade! We have 27 riflemen and 23 cavalry. Still to be upgraded are 27 pikemen and 2 catapults.
This was accomplished because of the boost to our economy from Wall St. and our trade department. The bad news on the trading front is that our wine import deal with England has ended. Citizens in Atlanta rioted when the pubs closed for lack of wines. We do hope the trade department can re-establish a deal soon. We are still selling gems to Hiawatha for a pittance and that deal should be ended post haste!
On the tech front we have learned industrialization and are currently looking into the science of medicine which we hope to have mastered in about 15 years.
Our first factories will be built in Fox Nest and Civanatoria and the latter city will then begin an iron works project. Pherris is building a military academy and PDX is agitating for universal suffrage. Much railroading is being done around PDX in an effort to make Phoenatica the first country to grant universal suffrage.
Many other railroading projects are in the works thanks to our governors' response to our domestic leader's call for workers. The National Employment Program (NEP) is working on railroads between Fox Nest and Eyr, Khatovar and Malinalco, Valhall and Atlanta, Seattle and San Francisco, Memphis and Abydos, Thebes and Heliopolis, Heliopolis and Alexandria and between Chondote and Cyrus.
Many buildings were constructed in our fine cities as listed below:
