Turn chat 1340 AD (June 16)

We have entered the industrial age! We have been working to boost the productivity of our 'core' cities and have begun construction of a national railroad network. We are still vying for a technology lead as we race the other countries to build Hoover Dam, formulate the theory of evolution and grant universal suffrage. The first phase in the modernization of our military is basically complete as we look to the military department for guidance in phase two.

Please do not use this as a discussion thread! Leaders and governors should now be posting their turn chat instructions here![/COLOR

Instructions from the President's office:

Continue building railroad network.
Implement any redployments per military department.
Trade deals will expire during this turn chat!

Cultural Recommendations:

Valhall needs a cathedral. Even if it switchs immediately, it will enter disorder before the cathedral is built.
Memphis could really use both a cathedral and a university after its marketplace is built.
New York has a scientist for no obvious reason.

Also, I think a couple places that didn't need courthouses ended up building them, btw.

Building Queues

PDX: Universal Suffrage[c]/Factory
Pherris: military acadamy[c]
New falcons heaven: Cathedral[c] /harbor
Shailonegha: Cavalry[c]/ Catheadral
Port Gisnod:temple [c]/ barracks/Factory
Miami: Barracks[c]/ Catheadral
Boston: marketplace[c]
Valhall: Cavalry[c]/ Cathedral
Chicago: temple[c]/ marketplace

[c]= Current

As of now, the building queues are:

Cyrus - granary, university, aqueduct, marketplace
Heliopolis - university, granary, cathedral
Alexandria - university, marketplace, granary

These may change, who knows. Whatever is listed at the time of the chat is good.

In Heliopolis, there should be no entertainers. Everyone works this time. 5 on mountains, 2 on grassland, and the last 4 on irrigated desert/flood plain.

Cyrus and Alexandria are fine. No changes needed.

I found the President's message about putting tracks on an irrigated plain by Cyrus. This is good. Any development we can focus on that will give Cyrus some more food is greatly appreciated.

On a side note, the Grecian troops walking through Kashmir are not really a problem for me. They are surely spending gold on something. We are at peace and have an ROP with them, so I might as well make some profit from this.

Domestic Department

Science: 70%
Taxes: 30%

Workers around PDX should be set in groups that finish a rail in 1-2 turns. Each time a rail is finished the workers in the city should be optimized.

The workers built in Chondote should immediately be sent to Thebes, and then given orders to build a railroad to PDX.

The Province of Istar

Fox's Nest: Factory, colloseum
Eyr: Cathedral, Factory
Khatovar: Rifleman, Factory
Malinalco: Factory (switch immediately from cavalry
Asyut: worker, aqueduct
Lutetia: cathedral(c), granary
Chie: rifleman, rifleman, rifleman

Chondote: worker, worker, worker

244 gold to rush a factory in Civinatoria.

All extra gold above 1000 should be spent on military upgrades.

I have received no other requests for gold as of yet.

Turn 0
Babylon
Renegotiate peace for max gold. 80 was the most I could get.

Rome
Gift them with the highest results of this poll:
Pleasing Rome

I wish to make them polite. Let the highest voting item be gifted first. If they become polite, gift no more. If they are less than polite, use the runner-up in the poll to gift next. If there is are ties, use spot votes to break them. Do not gift more than twice.

Chieftess has approved this deal. So, if the Trade Dept does not post instructions, I wish to make these deals. If the Trade Dept does make instructions, ignore these:

Greece declared war on the Iroquois! It did not take long for most of the Greek forces in Kashmir to enter Iroquois territory. Most of the fighting was done around Oka. The Greeks lost 5 riflemen and 5 swordmen in the final assualt that captured the city. There was also a pitched battle between Iroquois and Greek riflemen inside Ashpinxia! India entered the war on the side of Greece and they soon lost Hierconpolis to the Iroquois. The war rages on but most foreign units have left our borders.

On the home front the domestic department authorized the quick completion of a factory in Civanatoria and a great ironworks project is now underway in that city. We renegotiated peace with Babylon for 80 gold, and cancelled our gem imports to Hiawatha. In return for incense, saltpeter and plans for our new factories Shaka showed us how to use electricity! We reopened the wine route to England. We sent Elizabeth some spices and taught her the secrets of navigation so she can safely leave her island! We gave Ceasor ivory and he is now polite.
A university was rushed in Cyrus in 1315. Many other cities built improvements as listed below. We continued our military upgrades starting with our catapults. About a half dozen pikemen have been upgraded. Universal suffrage will be complete in PDX in 8 turns. Work on our national railway network progressed nicely as several small railroads began operations.
We mastered the secrets of medicine and began work on a new method for making scientific investigations. At this point it was suggested that medicine be sold. Some agreed, some did not and another called for a forum discussion on the matter. The latter minority view prevailed and it is the president's hope that our energies will be spent on deciding a comprehensive plan for building our wonders rather than on investigations.
