Location
Not here anymore...
Location isn't accurate enough ( ie Italian currently living in Madrid for his work, etc). Plus, 50 % of users put fanciful locations ( ie : in front of my desktop), or just let a blank.
So; it would be cool if we could see one's nationality/country in his profile... Not that hard to do.

Why whatever do you mean? I am shocked quite frankly anyone would do this!

Truth be told, Id rather some people not know where I am from, it avoids the stereotyping one may recieve in the OT./

Exactly. I have a lot of respect for people posting, and I like to think that I would judge the content before the location. There's no reason to look at Poster X and say "Well, he's from a country I don't like, so he must be an idiot." Not fair to Poster X, as he might have some good thoughts on something.

OTOH, if you want to say where you're from, knock yourself out. There's no reason why you shouldn't say where your from. National pride can be a powerful thing.

Wouldn't the same people that leave their location blank generally not choose their nationality? I guess it would probably take care of the posters that have something silly for their location, though. If a nationality feature is added, I think it should be in flag form, since I like Apolyton's flags. :)

And of course, people will still choose "fanciful" locations to get those specific flags. One poster might pick Iran, another might pick Chad, etc. just because they think it looks "kewl", and not because they are from those locations.

What is wrong with that?

Heh I know I would probably just pick a nice-looking flag. :p

Of course, maybe as of now posters just choose the country with the coolest name... I'm surprized I haven't seen anyone from Zimbabwe or Liechtenstein yet... ;)

I don't care for that idea, people may not want to show where they're from or they just might not be too bothered about it (like me).

Whether they put their nationality down or not is their own buisness, and I think you would eventually find it out anyway from what they post.

If you're truly anxious for that to happen, I can change my location.....;)

As I said, you just put your country name if you LIKE to.
By doing that, people here would know each other at least a bit better.
And people who just say : "you're stupid because you're from that country" are just morons. And they're only a minority here.

Of course, people could lie but hey they can also lie on the birthdate and so on.

Do you really think Lechtenstein is that cool as a name ? ;)

Also, the flags like in Poly is a bad idea as it makes people choose "fanciful" places even more.

EDIT : also, there wouldn't be so many "where are you from" threads which aren't accurate at all since anybody don't post in the same forums.

People can post their location if they want, some, like myself, chose not to.

Exactly.

Case closed in my opinion.
