We can renegotiate several peace treaties and get contact with the Japanese, Englilsh and Germans. We can also get some gold. I do not have the exact amounts we can get but it is around 100g. I would like approval for these treaties. I would also like to establish an embassy with Babylon so we can see how soon they will complete the Sistine Chapel. I would like to do these things in an off-line pre-turn tomorrow night (Thursday night EST) so I can post another save so you can all see the new info from the contacts.

If you approve of these plans AND approve of them being done off-line tomorow night please vote YES.

There was no prior discussion since time is off the essence.

This poll will be open for one day.

It's fine by me. It will mean a longer t/c. This method was used in a prior DG and it worked fine, giving us advanced knowledge.

Okay donsig. I'm with you on this one. Contacts are going to give me alot of fun things to do that will greatly help our civilization. I'm sure my deputy will be happy, too. Now, if we can get some trade routes going... (stupid sea tiles)

As for the Babylonian embassy, you should poll it seperately (I request it as a member of the board).

The embassy with Babylon isn't as critical (timewise) as getting the contacts before the next chat. Babylon has started building the Sistine Chapel in Babylon. We are prebuilding Sistine in Gorina and we figured we had about 28 turns to go before we completed it. We just wanted to see how many turns it will take Babylon to build it. I just thought it would be nice to have that info tomorrow as well since we could consider prebuilding Copernicus's Observatory somewhere (like Memphis),

Egypt: 42g, TM, contact with Japan, England and Germany

Greece: 24g and 5gpt

America: 8 turns left on current treaty

Aztecs: 1g and TM

Babylon: 13g and TM

Persia: 25g, 1gpt and TM

China: TM (they're broke)

Russia: 40g

Total income: 145g and 6gpt

Cost of embassy with Babylon: 57g

net income: 88g and 6gpt

Note, this would allow us to raise the science rate to 70% getting us theology in 6 turns while maintaining a 5gpt surplus.

OK, this may sound weird, but I've never done this before and have very little idea what you're talking about. Renegotiate peace treaties? What buttons did you push to get these numbers? Or are these actual trades and you're only reporting the other side's half of the trade?

@DS - yes, I learned this move playing the Demogame also. Just go to the F/A Screen and bring up a conversation with any tribe we are at peace with. Tell them you want to propose a deal. Click on "Active" at the bottom of the screen. This will show the two Peace Treaties. Click on one of the Peace Treaties and a pop up will ask if you are sure we should renegotiate peace. Click on "Yes. Absolutely." Then start piling the items on their list onto the bargaining table under their Peace Treaty until funny looking dude in the funny looking hat says "I doubt they will accept this proposal". That's the deal.

The deal for Egypt on my save was slightly different than donsig's results, as for me, Cleopatra was also willing to throw in her Territory map for peace along with all the things donsig claimed.

So that's how you do it. BTW, once you decide to do it, there's no turning back. :)

As soon as you click "Yes absolutely" you are in a state of NO-Peace with that civ. If the negotiations don't go your way you've squandered a peace-treaty.
The risk is that you end up paying for peace if the civ is stronger than you, or that you can't sign a peace-treaty and you'll end up in war. Only do this if you are the big kid on the block.

I want to inform my countrymen that this is classified "Dastardly" by Realms. http://realmsbeyond.net/civ/etactics.html#diplomacy will show you honorable, dastardly and exploitive Diplomacy actions.

But I voted "yes". If I'd wanted to play honorably I'd play at home.

1 thing bothering me; we had to load and reload several times in order to see what the civs are offering for the renegotiating of this treaty. Isn't that a violation of the rules 'you can't play on and reload an earlier save in order to get information' ?

Peace treaty renegotiation is the only exception to that rule, as stated in article H.1.a of the Constitution.

I have edited the *What we can get* post to include Egypt's TM. I didn't think about getting maps till I was on the third or fourth treaty. :D

After this poll closes in a couple hours I will renegotiate the treaties and post the new save - assuming there is no last minute rush of NO votes. ;)

I voted for Yes. Though I dont like the idea o them being "Off-line" :-/
