Previous Chat Thread

This will be an online session. Rik Meleet will be the DP for this session.

Summary

We have learned the secrets of Sanitation and Replacement Parts, bringing new speed to our workers, and allowing our cities to grow larger and better defended. Our worker force has grown dramatically, and has nearly completed the TFRR. Only Grozny remains to be connected to the rail network.

Please reserve this thread for instruction posts by Department Leaders. This is not a discussion thread.

-- Ravensfire, President of Fanatica

edit: Spelling of September to keep certain people happy.

Military Instructions

Movement of Cavalry

Those 4 cavalry in the mountains north of Elephantine to continue to screen the north to prevent German territorial incursion.
Also deploy cavalry from garrison to prevent the Aztecs entering the desert region between Heliopolis and Hiercanopolis.
The one cavalry that was deployed to prevent a landing on the coast near Alexandria which is now within our borders may be returned to garrison.

Movement of Foot

Any infantry produced are to be deployed, two each, to the following cities
New city on border with Aztecs
Heliopolis
Hiercanpolis
Malvern Hills
Cold Harbour

The muskets from these cities are to be deployed to coastal cities to bring up their strength to 2 muskets per city.

If there is infantry produced in excess of the above forecast, please deploy them, two each, to the northern frontier cities. The muskets from these cities are to be assigned as above.

The Domestic Leader has authorised the upgrade of musketmen this TC. These units are to be returned to their original garrison after upgrade.

Movement of Legions

One from:
Byblos to Memphis
Alex to Thebes
New Jedina to Omalu
Elephantine to LA
Grozny to Seven hills
Inadatto to Aureus
PDXIII to Regia D

Treaties: Do not sign or break any treaties (Peace Treaty, ROP, MA, MPP, Trade Embargo) this turnchat.

Embassies: None unless the general opinion of the people at the chat is that an embassy is needed.

City investigations: If you and a general opinion of people in the chat determine that another investigation of Persepolis is beneficial, you are permitted to do so. There are to be no other investigations.

War Declarations: None this chat, and if war is declared on us, please stop the chat.

Tribute Demands:

Reject a tribute demand if:
-More than 100 gold or 6 gold per turn is demanded
-A strategic resource or luxury is demanded
-An important technology not believed to be known by other civs is demanded.
-England demands tribute.

If a demand does not violate these guidelines, pay the tribute demand unless the general opinion of people in the chat says to reject it.

Other instructions:

Territory incursions: Please ask all nations with troops in our territory to withdraw them in the preturn or when their troops appear in our territory. You may repeat this at intervals of 2 to 3 turns as necessary. Please do not demand that any nations move troops. If what appears to be a possible invasion force arrives near a city, please stop the chat and we can determine what to do in the forums.

Aventine Improvements:

1) DO THIS! Irrigate around Aureus! I’ve only been saying to for 3 months now, and it’s about time it got done! If this gets done and those hills are mined, Aureus could rival Gorina for production capacity!
1) Railroad the mined tiles at Iron Hills.
2) Mine and RR the roaded hill SE of Iron Hills.

Other: Barring conflicting orders from Military, please phase out other defenses throughout Fanatica in favor of Infantry as they are produced.

Domestic Instructions

Budget Office

Spearman upgrades are not approved at this time.

900 During pre-turn, upgrade 15 Muskets to Infantry(60g each) and deploy per Military instructions.
296g Rush Library in Hieraconpolis
232g Rush Granary in Cold Harbor
224g Rush Settlers in Wandering Gnome Hills and Babs Landing(112g each).
32g Rush Courthouse in Persian Landing

Here are standing budget orders for the following, to be carried out periodically during the turnchat:

36g or less Worker rushes in 1spt cities.
60g Musket upgrades to Infantry.

Science Slider

Since the research times for Refining will only be estimates, I ask the DP to use the following guidelines:

Try to keep Refining research between 8-10 turns.
Try to maintain a positive gpt in doing so.
Please choose the Science Rate that yields the best results in keeping with this guideline.

My guess will be that we will be anywhere from 40-60% research. Spot vote if necessary.

Settler Instructions

Please send newly rushed Settler from Wandering Gnome Hills to Site c1ain this poll.

Please send newly rushed Settler from Babs Landing to Site c2y, seen in the first post screenshot contained in this poll thread.

If there is a new poll running by the time the turnchat begins, please go by the results of that poll.

Worker Suggestions

Please begin irrigation over the grassland mines in Southern Quirnial and Western Esquiline Provinces. Doing this will enhance the growth of our worker factories, so that they can quickly replenish their population. And we won't lose production because all of the shields are corrupt.

Please do not overlook the opportunities to rush workers. We have so many conflicting needs for them that we can always use more. I really don't think we should even slow down on worker production until we have at least 120 of them.

Please begin mining and roading the hills in Iron Hills and Aureus, so that those cities may become possible Modern Wonder sites.

Rik,

EDIT:
Rik, as zorven pointed out to me, the order of naming is based on the order of registering in the Citizen Registery. I will ask him to post the next two names for cities.

Btw - I'm finding it somewhat humorous that the debate we had during the elections did not mention Factories, which obviously has made the issue moot! I'm quite satisfied that we've ended up with both wonders.

Good luck this turn!

Turn 5

The turnchat started out boring and ended in fierce debates. We ended prematurely after a spot vote was called. All buildqueues were instructed to the cities, all instructions were taken care of, all requests for land-improvement were noted and acted upon (if possible).

We've build 3 settlers for 2 cities. Like the game; 3 is too much. The River-Crossing settler was send to Chieftess to "increase world population". Chieftess gave birth to twins. ;) Chieftess grew from a size 7 to a size 9. (CT if you're reading this I am obviously talking about the city called Chieftess). Research went fluently. I started Refining in 8 turns when we got The Corporation, income around + 220 gpt.

In turn 4 we realised the Germans had researched Refining. We could trade Atomic Theory to the for 176 gpt + 760 gold + Refining. We could also get Nationalism + 90 odd gpt from Persia for Atomic. A discussion took place and no deal was signed.

On turn 5 the Germans offered Refining + 848 gold + 216 gpt. That was too much. Bring it to the forums; and here it is.

On turn 5 a minute of silence was held to remember the victims of the chain-of-events which started 2 years ago; Septembre 11 2001 .

It's up to you now. Check the trades and decide. Do we trade now, do we stop science and wait 1 or 2 turns. Do we not trade till we finish the US and HD ?

In making your choice I want you to know that in 1560 Germany didn't have Refining and they had it (@monopoly) in 1565. That means at max science it takes another 2 turns for them to get a new tech (AT worst case scenario). And they've increased their gpt offer by 50 gpt in 1 turn.

This proves that Germany will not research AT the next turn and will probably pay more if we hold back trades for 1 more turn.

Think about it. Greed is a bad advisor and patience is a virtue.

Vice President
DP for today

Rik,

I see there are no instructions from Trade. Going through the Trade thread, there is some support for intelligent trading - including a nice one proposed by a citizen.

With the absence of instructions, including negative instructions, please conduct trades with advice of citizens present.

-- Ravensfire, President of Fanatica

Trade noted by zorven:
The Russians will offer us their World Map, 70 gold, and 30 gpt in exhange for one of our Wines.

-- Ravensfire

Mr. President,

Per your request, the next 2 city names are:

Walnut Creek
Nirvana

Thank you,

The Office of City Names

Nuts - that's the only way I could possibly join.

How long of a window will the Java client keep? A possibility would be, after each turn, copy the contents of the chat dialog into a text document. Ugly, but it would get it done.

Rik, a log is not required for the game so long as you can provide good notes. See how donsig plays the off-line turns in Term 3 during the madness. If there is nobody there that can log it, do what you can.
