Can't get screenshots from DVD/other vid

I have what may be a pretty simple question here.

I have a DVD-ROM drive which I have been able to use to watch DVDs on my PC. I also have Paint Shop Pro. Normally, if I use PSP's image capture tool to get a screenshot, I don't have a problem. But when I use it to try the same thing from a DVD, it doesn't work at all. It comes up black, or shows a portion of the DVD's screen *still moving* inside the PSP program!

Anybody know what I'm doing wrong here? Am I trying to do something that DVD-ROM players don't want me to do? And if so, what's the workaround?

Doesn't Hypersnap leave a stamp?
I'm angling for something of the "Free" persuasion.

Yes it does but you can do what I did. Use google to erm, improve it. Snagit is free for 30 days without any stamp but it tends to be unreliable for XVID movies. PowerDVD is the best player for capping.

Alternatively, you can make the DvD window a tad smaller (so it's not full-screen), open some folder, and make it very small, but have it so you have clicked on that window (can't really think of a better way to explain this)
YOu should be able to see the picture on the DvD, but it will think you are looking at some other photo. Then just take a screen-shot as normal :) -- this saves you from downloading any programs. Note: I've not tested this, although i'm sure it'd work.
