I'd like to see that, no matter what language version you're playing, the file and directory structure is the same.
I think the way it was dealt with in Civ3 caused a lot of pain to the comunity.
I don't want to rename a hell lot of directories to play for example a french scenario.

Yes I agree.

:dubious:did you just bump a 10-month old post to say "i agree" :dubious:?

Yeah and I agree too. :D

And I don't want to rename my directories to play for example an American or English scenario.

I'll crack Civ4 instead of buying it if this isn't done, but this is old news.

That was just sooooo ANNOYING :aargh::aargh:
I totally agree, too.

It would have been quite easy to make Civ3 localized version compatible each other.
The idea of having them incompatible is just plain dumb. I don't know why Firaxis came out with such an absurd implementation, but if they hoped to discourage piracy, they're sadly mistaken.

Here in Italy it's quite difficult to find the game in english, unless you are in one of the major towns. If you're an enthusiast who want to try various mods, the italian version is useless, unless you want to rename all the unit directories, all the ini files into them, and all the unit names in the civ editor.

So what's going to do the Italian enthusiast who doesn't find the game in english and doesn't want to go into this "renaming nightmare" ?!? I guess the words "P2P networks" have already came into your mind.

Please Firaxis, at least in civ4 make the localized versions compatible each other, or i'll think twice before buying the game.

Well, I agree: I also would love to see running my german version with french scenario for example. :D But as far I know, it was Infogrames (later named Atari) - they where responsible for all these localizations. Firaxis had "nothing" to do with that. Anyone knows how Take2 makes such translations?
