Very, very often, the starting position for a warrior is chosen to be the worst possible. Almost always, a warrior spawns in the most difficult places - in the middle of the forest, in the middle of the swamps, in the middle of the hills. But the ranger, on the contrary, spawns on the plains, on the floodplain, or has direct access to tiles that have no movement penalties.
As you can see from the screenshots, the position for the warrior is not fixed relative to the settler - in screenshot 1 he is on top, in screenshot 2 - below. But in both cases, he is in the deaf wilds. In screenshot 2, it takes 3 to 5 turns for a warrior to get to the level ground.
