ı have noticed that a post about the endless agonies about being a Turk has been edited last week or so . Oh-kay , a short history of the Turkish Republic . Founded by Mustafa Kemal , who had the formative experience of the 1897 War with the Greeks which proved Turks were not totally dead . This proof of can-do attitude is hard to understand , unless one has suffered the same amount of "encroachment" of foreigners and the insecurity of being "determined to loose" . He was a beneficiary of reforms that were basically the last breath attempts of the Ottomans to be relevant , he had the schooling to see one had to share whatever limited resources . To cope with an ever hungry West ; multi-ethnic multiparty Democracy was the salvation . Especially if it managed to balance with Arabs (and the oil that lied beneath the land where they were the majority) with the Christians that were so industrious in all sorts of trade that no ethnic Turk could open a shop in the capital of the Ottoman Empire . His first major thing was selling Democracy to the Libyans who were aghast at the oust of Abdülhamid , with two of the greediest of two European colonial empires encamped to East and the West . With the obvious end to the Panislamist narrative enamated form Istanbul , theirs was perhaps a panic , perhaps a readiness to start the talks for the best bargain . Until promised that they were still part of the Ottoman state . Let the Libyans serve the State and they would be served by the likes of Mustafa Kemal .


then the wars came . We in Turkey never hear that his first major command , of the troops in Gallipoli in 1912-3 , ended in a major disaster . Not the way you think , as dictators hand wave and have their defeats deleted from the official history . See , not even his sternest enemies talk about that . How supposedly he was the observer in a recon flight that covered every single Bulgarian HQ inside Thrace , camps , ammunition dumps , artillery positions duly recorded by him on a map . This he could do , because nobody knew jack about camouflage in those days and he had previously been flown in some French Army maneouvres in 1910 and was familiar with the then limited art of aerial observation . How he meticoulously prepared an attack . With an heavy heart , too , knowing very well that many of his troops would be dead by the end of the day . See , the Ottomans were cornered so an amphibious attack behind the Bulgarian lines at the doorstep of Istanbul was planned . Forcing a decisive battle on the Bulgarians , saving Edirne , advancing as far as Selanik , if possible defeating the Greeks and the Serbians one at a time , taking the Ottoman Europe back , Turkish for the last 5 centuries , stuff like that . And the flight took so long that the German mercenary pilot had to land the two seater by the light of torches lit , making it the first combat flight at night or something .

because von der Goltz , the "father" of the Turkish Army , had traded letters with Ottoman Sultans that Kemal could be made the Chief of Staff of the Ottoman Empire , once he matured out of chasing French chicks , the Ottoman HQ in Istanbul duly noted the flight and the amount of recce it did . Bulgarians of course claim diseases made it impossible for them to capture the city of Tzars so they moved elsewhere and that's why they were there , ready to shoot Kemal's offensive into pieces . Doubling their forces on location because they were planning to capture Gallipoli , not because of something else ... Because the Bulgarians were so ready to kill Turks , they had needed lots of time to be convinced that Mustafa Kemal would attack on that day . And because that the Ottoman HQ had spent so much time convincing the Bulgarians , they forgot to ready the ships to carry the troops to land . So the landings could not take place simultenously , so the attack of Kemal could be processed without much hassle by the Bulgarians . Cancelling the attack now made sense , by not risking thousands of lives ? You don't know jack about anything , Kemal could have claimed he was bound to fail without the diversion of the amphibious landing . Despite his attack being the diversion for the amphibious landing ; if positions had been reversed Enver would have done that . So , the landing did take place , some time later , right under the noses of victorious Bulgarians , for a repeat pasting . Fighting went on and Bulgarians decided they were cheated with their Christian brothers looting far more for much little cost ; so there was a second Balkan War . Kemal was like doomed to obscurity with Enver arriving with Cavalry to beat him to Edirne , and later having Kemal exiled to Sofia as the military attachee . Yes , people should have been shot , but they were like all classmates to Kemal and he had no political clout out of Ittihad . So that would have only created more chaos . To the detriment of the country . Enver further erred in having him back from Sofia as the Great War began and some clerical error went unnoticed ; assigning him to Gallipoli he knew so well instead of some forsaken command in Yemen , as had been agreed upon by the bigshots of the Ittihad . They were busy selling the country to the highest bidder , which turned out to be Germany . And the Germans didn't exactly need a man of Kemal's caliber in their future Arabian colonies ; he might have organized a rebellion or something there . You know , with a solid record in Libya against Italian Liberators . The error remained .


et cetera , et cetera , more et cetera ... Now it's 1920s . Greeks have come and gone . And they still blame us for the population exchange , you know , with their army trying to conduct a scorched earth policy in retreat and pulling the local Greeks with them , the "Christian conduct" of the Balkan Wars and the related ethnic cleansing being a mere decade old at the time . The Greek defeat brings Venizelos back and what does he want ? All the Greeks deported from Anatolia , except that City . Not only because he will be able to deport the Muslims off Greece but he is gaining a solid core of support . People uprooted from Anatolia because political opponents of Venizelos lost a Crusade there ... A thousand deaths a day for quite a while cuts their number to a more manageable level , too ... While keeping the political stuff up , right ? He even corrects an unsightly sight . Orthodox Christian Turks of central Anatolia , because if left here they would be proof that we monsters are not the monsters the European PR claims we are , intolerant savages bent on destruction of each and every Christian . Kemal once again saved people from being shot , after gaining solemn oaths from them on they would never utter Social Darwinist BS , not even in the sanctity of their homes . Sure enough , there was a Kurdish "Islamist" rebellion in the East , which the battle hardened army of the young Republic was like totally unable to contain . Musul and whatever oil wealth it contained went out of the window , alongside the Kurdish "autonomy" in return for opening their feudal existance to "Science" . You see , Kemal was proud to be a Turk , couldn't see how a guy wouldn't want to be . Schools and trains , education and economic / military ties to secure the area and let the dudes own whole 'ing factories instead of one or two villages ; real wealth instead of undisputed "right" to molest the women and having b_stards . You think it's an accident that a ringleader was this "Right Wing" Ittihadist scholar ?


having sent away the Greeks of all types with the justification of stopping the British using them as a 5th Column and sabotaged the multiparty democracy through the Kurdish rebellion , Ittihad was ready for a showdown with its rebellious progidious son , Kemal . Enver had been killed in Central Asia , Armenians had assasinated the remaining members of the trio that had ruled and ruined the Ottoman Empire . There was an attempt on Kemal's life , but without the trio , there was no one within Ittihad ranks that could "replace" Kemal . Nor there was any opposition to Kemal's Reforms . Everybody wanted to be a dictator and had long counted upon the idiocy of the population , seemingly always content for shows of piety in the Mosque . And removing other types of people would make it easier to impose the "law" ... No Muslim would be offended by the sight of Christian neighbours earning far more with an equal amount work , and question the leadership of the country on why they were not achieving as much . But the godless Bolshies were doing so good in Russia and people were awestruck by the prospects . Let Mustafa Kemal blaze a path and allow an incident and become the Stalin of Anatolia ... Better in the sense that you could drink and do all sorts of stuff instead of praying 5 times a day and even more when required . You really don't know how much the West has hated the Republic , for continious failures to roll over and die . They expect us losers praying all day long so that we will not "produce" and become a captive market and get a Crusade as soon as possible . Then , they are deceived by the enthuasism of their assets on the ground and let us become godless and their Crusade is to be a mite easier , especially when compared to 1915 . America hates this British failure right from the start and entire US policy ever since is to make us Muslims , 'cause we can't be ...


sure enough , Kemal keeps to his personal timetable and starts a second period of democracy right in 1930 . Hopeful by the prospects as the Wall Street Crash has taken some wind from the US and it seems to be getting worse . Makes his best pals join this new party , despite the misgivings of the pals themselves . Sure enough , some guy wants to cut his son's throat in a political rally . As a sacrifice to Allah , as a way of thanks that the "Muslims" will soon be saved from the godless tyranny . The best pals say "Well, screw them!" and Kemal has always been a realist . And yes , the worse is yet to come . Like being forced to emulate radical secularism of Europe with stuff . "Muslims" have given up their work to convince people that the Menemen rebellion was an anti-"Muslim" conspiracy where some young Lieutenant was beheaded ; they are much more vocal on the Disgrace of July 15th where apparently a cadet was beheaded and nobody ever like conducts investigations against heroes of Democracy .


as Europe inches closer to war and Turkey becoming ever more valuable as a partner for any side (thus becoming a bigger threat to the side that remains) the Tunceli issue becomes the issue . The guys have long been allies to the Kemalist regime , helping quite a bit to put down the Kurdish rebellion . It's the same thing , schools and roads and Kemal will personally oversee the education of the sons and grandsons of the notables of the area , just like the Sultans used to do , to let them to be valuable citizens , members of the Parliament by the strength of the votes of the province , President of the country if they are that good . The response was the same ; rebellion on claims that the soldiers had raped village women . And why the Alevis are so staunchly for the memory of Atatürk when ı would be extremely hard pressed to convince them that there were like no massacres ? Because Atatürk's Republic , at least theoretically , allows them to be anything they want to be . While every "Reformist" that bandies about the ills of the same tends to have some connection to the large scale murders of Alevis . To the extent that Tunceli had its own "one-province" Communist insurgency to be beaten down by some sort of alliance between the seperatists and the State . The Radical Left keeps accusing the State of being American puppets , but you won't see any particular insults against Kemal , the Great Revolutionary . Otherwise they would have to close shop , with like zero recruitment from the Alevis . Alevis are just people , they have honest people and they have scum people -but not in any different ratios compared to the rest of the country . Yet they tend to be always on the wrong side for the Americans for some unshakeable loyalty to Atatürk .

nd then Kemal dies . The New Turkey spent some tremendous amount of effort to convince the country that he was poisioned by his followers . No problems with that narrative , now that he was moving out of the excesses of 1930s with a war coming and Turkey possibly being targeted either by the democracies or the tyrannies . Italy was a next door neighbour , let alone Stalin's Russia . He was quite game for a possibility of sending troops to Yugoslavia to ensure its safety against incursions by the Nazis , in case there was an union between Hitler's Germany and Hitler's birthplace , Austria , you know just in case . The so-so Navy was getting most modern British destroyers , fully equipped with ASDIC , which must have surprised the author of this book ı trawled from the net . Because of the "pirates" were trying to sink Russian shipments to Spain and writing off an Italian submarine today might save lives tomorrow . And of course when the Spanish Fascists trapped in Madrid took refuge in the Turkish Embassy nobody demanded them returned ; because Kemal's Turkey was respected , nobody wanted to F word with Turks for stuff Kemal would not in any case . His final work was Hatay , quite a bit for having diversity in the country , denied at every turn by the Ittihad remnants -for homogeneousness they desired was a cover for the dictatorship they craved . The French Ambrassador was most unenthuasistic , nobody ever returns land to Turks , voluntarily or something . Atatürk launched into this tirade about the fall of the area during the First Crusade and the cannibalistic tendencies of Europeans and in it there was no hint of the funny stupid traces of the all conquering Turkish history everybody laughs at . Paris advised the Ambrassador to stand firm and Atatürk had Sabiha Gökçen fire her pistol at the luxurious restaurant in Ankara the guy was lunching a few tables away from Atatürk's . Possibly the same pistol Kemal had given her adopted daughter , before she left for combat in Tunceli as a pilot , lest she was taken alive by some ground fire or engine malfunction . You can argue to the end of the world whether she was originally Armenian or not . Amazing , people had no trouble reading signals back then .


that 15 years under Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is tough to attack , despite all the power invested by the West in the New Turkey ; they are skittish and turn tail whenever truly confronted . Hence they emphasise what came afterwards .

war was upon the world ; there would be no rush otherwise . Kemal was the Eternal Chief , Inönü became the National Chief . He had to "transform" the cult stuff to living people because how single party states were run and if that was not worked upon , every other foreign country , democracies to tyrannies would decide there was something wrong in Ankara , encouraging "men" who thought they were the "boldest" hence they alone were entitled to dictate stuff to a country . Yet , Inönü had to play it slow , for Kemal in his deathbed had been told that Ismet Pasha was either dead or would be killed as soon practicable , so the founder of Republic had left money for the children of Inönü in his will . The first reform of notice was to be the paperbills . The picture of Kemal goes , gets replaced by the new Chief . Freshly printed in England they were on a ship in the Pireaus harbour when the Germans struck , in the 1941 invasion . A multi-prong attack , sea mines close the harbour to all movement while a fire on board an British ammunition ship lits the fuse . Like every single person in the area is ordered to evacuate and a Greek , a little boy at the time , remembers a massive explosion , and strangely enough , paper bills raining from the sky . Everybody naturally collect them and the Goverment in Ankara naturally declares them void . They may have no issues with the Greeks but allowing them the money would lead to suspicions in the Allied camp . That the evil Turks 'ing sabotaged the British Campaign in Greece and were paying compensation to the Greek villagers for the damages . You know , because the port was so destroyed in what has been compared to a tactical nuclear weapon ... And yes , America always stops attempts to replace Atatürk on Turkish bills . It led to inevitable mirth for the next 15 or so years , with regular careful leaks about magic and its re-incarnation amongst the sons of devil .


in real life nobody of course believed that . Inönü decided to slow down a bit and see what would happen . 1941 was massive , with the Bolsheviks getting truly hammered and all the indications were that they would recover , veterans of the Turkish War of Liberation always chose to believe what their brothers in arms in that said about the world affairs , instead of , say , von Papen , the German Ambrassador . 1942 was something else . Firstly it was a good time to "repeat" the 1492 , you know with the same numbers and Germans naturally thought they would do it better then some Latin losers . And even if America had come into the war , it had been roughly handled by the Japanese . As such , it's an outright lie that the world didn't know anything about the Holocaust until too late ; say , Ankara had a full summary of the Wannsee Conference in its entirity . Delivered by Von Papen to suggest Jews would no longer be there to help and the Kemal's Republic should surrender , now . It was immediately copied and posted throughout the world , too . See , Inönü was not a bad person but cult of personality was how things were done and he had to replace Kemal as the center of "adulation" . With the Wehrmacht once again on the offensive , he chose the park that had been named by Kemal after Ismet's double victories in the Battles of Inönü . The park would be removed and a statue of Inönü would be placed instead . You know , bigger than Kemal's in the Taksim Square . There was a demonstration and the Police and the like could not break it . It's hard when the police chiefs recognize people , salute and sit down for the tea , let Ismet Inönü come and tell people leave . You might remember the place from 2013 . Though the Congregation Police had no idea of the history when they burned the tents of protesters and roughed up people ; they were merely being themselves .


there would be one more spike of the same . Have been harping on how nobody ever believes in Turks but blames "Oriental Jews" for whatever happens ? The concept belongs to David Fromkin and no attempts at qoutes , too . Down with Xenforo !


The ambassador, Sir Gerard Lowther, seems to have fallen completely under the influence of Gerald FitzMaurice, his First Dragoman, or official interpreter and adviser on oriental affairs; and FitzMaurice detested the C.U.P. almost from the very outset.

FitzMaurice’s interpretation of the events of 1908 was colored by the fact that they had occurred in Salonika, about half of whose 130,000 inhabitants were either Jews or Dunmehs (members of a Jewish sect that had converted to Islam in the seventeenth century). Salonika was also a city in which there were Freemason lodges. Emmanuel Carasso (or Karasu), a Jewish lawyer, had founded an Italian Freemason lodge in which he apparently allowed Talaat’s secret society to meet when it was in hiding from the Sultan’s secret police. FitzMaurice concluded that the C.U.P. was a Latin-influenced international Jewish Freemason conspiracy; and Lowther duly reported this to the Foreign Office in London. Lowther referred to the C.U.P. as “the Jew Committee of Union and Progress.”

FitzMaurice later conducted an investigation of the C.U.P., the results of which were reflected in a confidential report sent by Lowther under his own name on 29 May 1910, to the official head of the Foreign Office, Sir Charles Hardinge. In his report, Lowther pointed out that “liberté, égalité, fraternité” (liberty, equality, fraternity), words drawn from the French Revolution, were both the slogan of the Italian Freemasons (hence Karasu’s lodge) and of the Young Turkey movement. The Young Turks, he claimed, were “imitating the French Revolution and its godless and levelling methods. The developments of the French Revolution led to antagonism between England and France, and should the Turkish revolution develop on the same lines, it may find itself similarly in antagonism with British ideals and interests.”

In his detailed report of more than 5,000 words, Lowther alleged that Jews had taken over a Freemason network (“The Oriental Jew is an adept at manipulating occult forces…”) and through it had taken control of the Ottoman Empire.

yeah , so . And when the WW II starts to heat up and sides surprise each other time after time , some bright soul in Berlin decides to stop attempts at selling Jews to Turks and offers something "arguably more valuable" . The Dodecanese , those "12 Islands" invaded by Italy as a means of forcing the Ottomans to give up Libya and like stolen by them after the disasters of the Balkan Wars . Despite official promises by Rome on their continued status as Ottoman possessions . Typically muddled , WW I and Italians say the islands are theirs . Then like totally true that in 1920 they want the Greeks to have them in 1920 . Greeks agree , as compensation for the crimes Italians have committed against the Greeks , stuff like since 1204 and ignore the provisions that they should stop invading Anatolia . Everybody is like invading Anatolia , true , but those are Düvel-i Muazzama , the Great States that scare ignorant orientals with their might . While Greeks simply fan the flames and unite the Turkish masses behind Kemal , who has this proven record of inciting insurgencies and the like . Which the Italians are intimately familiar ... Then Duce arrives and stops the transaction , islands become an Italian thing with special laws . Duce wants to invade places anyhow , not giving them away on already failed projetcs . Not that he has any particular feelings for Turks either . Italy was an active supplier or something , with the air superiority in 1922 achieved with Spads bought for a good price . They naturally came without machine guns , the money for them being ending in the coffers of the Fascists . ı hear Spad was not a plane for joyriding , but whatever . Lausanne saw the islands debated , the final agreement being them becoming Italian after for some other islands were returned to Turkey . Said nobody ever gives land to Turks ? Well , that deal also fell apart and Duce kept them , promising that they would never be armed .


So , in the Summer of '42 Duce offers to return them , as Rommel is advancing on Egypt and Suez , while Wehrmacht aims at the Caucaus . You won't believe this , ı know , but Midway was scary , apparent as the high water mark of the Japanese expansion even at the time . The Luftwaffe FW-190s might or might not have clashed with B-17 formations for the first time and Mosquitos were even faster than Kurt Tank's wonderplane ... And naturally , the first step in the return of islands were those which were apparently invaded by the British with the beginning of the war in the Mediterrenean .

By this time , like everybody is ignoring Hajo Hermann's report on how he put those bombs into the British ammunition ship in his Ju 88 . It's an explosive device smuggled on board and evil Turks are taking revenge for 1915 . Americans agreed to deter us from assisting the Germans by all means in Wehrmacht's summer offensive . You know , Kursk , which was really going nowhere ... That became the invasion of Sicily and fall of the Fascists . Germans were by now totally burning to give us the islands , only if we agreed to recognize Northern Italy as the true one ... Oh , how that would have helped us to join the United Nations in 1946 ! Didn't go anywhere either ; Inönü particularly angry that he had missed the bus a year back . And a statement that Kemal would himself land at the very first wave , if he was still alive . Churchill was adamant on further going East , instead of North , up the Italian Peninsula to the vitals of Germans ... The Allies really debated a repeat of March 18th for 1944 and Admiral King became a force of nature or something in refusing to assign ships . ı think because of mineral shipments to the Germans . Left to his own devices , Churchill went onto invade the islands , merely to prevent poor Italians forced to give them back , as everybody hates Turk recovering what's theirs or something . Led to Germans handling the British a sharp defeat , that to the Guns of Navarone and that to an inspiration for Star Wars . So , something good came out of all that ...

wait , how did ı come here ? By reading a post that says the Turkish State was allied with Grey Wolves and secular extremists . As if they both were not a state creation ... Secular extremists were given a free rein and why they were so readily accepted by a Sunni majority country ? Because in the era of Kemal everybody knew it rather well that stuff was not working and something had to be done . Ismet's era was based on a combination of remembrance of the Ottoman times and a civic pride on the achievements of the Republic . At the time no amount of propaganda bought by petrodollars could beat that . A recent Euro-American thing invented as a match for the fact that it was a case of either do-or-die is the realization that everything the Kemalist Revolution did was aimed at getting a "racially" Turkish society , Sunni by belief . With endless reminders of anti-religion measures hit the Alevis harder by denying them all sorts of cultural gatherings while mosques survived for the Sunnis . Once again , the Republic allowed Alevis to be whatever they wanted to be through working hard enough and it's like just a glimpse of what the future holds in the New Turkey to read newspapers that the Teacher-of-the-year-of 2015 had not graduated from the required schools and the lot ... She's now expected to return 19 years worth of salaries . Am not saying if she was an Alevi , the discrepancies in her records would have been discovered when she was nominated to be teacher of the year . Am not even saying she would have never become a teacher or at least sacked long ago , as the rising Congregation-Party alliance left no stones upturned to create more positions for themselves . The New Turkey is meant to transform the country into something that can be ruled by the likes of the Saudis when their oilwells dry ; she wouldn't even be allowed to appear on the streets , even when she is proven to be anything but an Alevi . This is something to think about and it2s really felt by many people , and the thing is we had this decade of people telling lies that the destination of the country was nothing like this . The Kemalist affair attempted to create a man of Turkey , just like there was a project upnorth for creating the Soviet man . If the beliefs of the Alevis were ever surpressed , well , the Kemalists were raised as the last hope of the Ottoman Empire . They were throughly educated , probably better Islamic scholars than those who call them godless drunkards these days . Why it is an accident that the Alevis would rather have been oppressed and suppressed by the Kemalists , rather than the "Sunnis" ?


a "popular" attempt at this was the Village Institutes . Vocal schools where the village boys and girls were given boarding and the like to be trained to "master" scientific methods about anything that pertained to life . Model citizens was the desired end , violin playing farmers . Which would be aplenty in the Rednecks but you get the drift ; am practically banned to say anything against White Trash , in deference to Southern Belles ... Considering ı have never heard of a Rightwinger hailing from these schools , it's easy to assume they were meant for the integration of the Alevis , to give their best kids a no little push in life . A systematic country wide application of what was to happen for Tunceli , an effort to deny Foreign Countries a fifth column in the coming fight . Fifth Column being a reality in the 1940s after Franco's attacks on Madrid and the fight would be coming to Turkey no matter what ; these people on top being veterans of a decade of war where defeat meant the destruction of Turks as a political entity first , nation second . Nobody would have rejected an idea that without the campaigns of 1920-22 , the Treaty of Sevres would have been applied with a second wave of Greek conquest by the 1930s , and 40s would be about banning the Turkish Language . Too much persistence of the Turkics now that Russia would surely recover its power by then and Central Asia would once again become the hotbed of the Great Game , but the "Turks" who look like "Europeans" are much hated . The Christian West would have taken Asia Minor from the East and that would be a thing ... Or that it was discussed as such in the versailles of 1919 and it didn't get a single NAY . Why , a little thing to raise the hairs of your body ; with especially orphan girls of Tunceli adopted by the officers who might or might have executed the biological fathers and raised the kids as of their own . The New Turkey made much of it and attributed it to the old age of the people in question , with me personally not remembering a single case of anyone personally complaining on TV . Will surely see reportages on TV and the lot when America decides to invade us , though . You see , it's all about the "Sunni" treatment that's being meted and the "evil" State that oppresses "Sunnis" foremost and it will be heaven on earth if the godless Alevis stop supporting Kemalism . It's surely not nice to see , say in places in Argentina where thousands of kids were stolen from the Leftists , or did ı ever mention am such a fan of this movie about the Spanish Civil War , the Pan's Labyrinth or whatever where this little girl "discovers" she is the little Princess of the Underworld ?

the institutes are the golden past of the Left , which always rants about the fact that they were closed and replaced by the Imam Hatips . Vocational schools that are supposed to train imams but like act as the standart for the Islamist Right wing . With always a need for imams with thousands more always required , despite the tens of thousands of graduates each year , now that they are everywhere , as the vanguard of the Right , New Turkey and hence the Counter-Revolution . Not exactly the fault of Inönü and the like .
