America: Write Your Own History

I do not agree with that, sir Caterpillar, unlike you, if the light is shed that they are becoming what they are fighting against, they will hopefully listen and revert back to their moderate ways.

I have done nothing extreme nor do I condone the actions of the president. I merely want the United States United again.

Oh nothing extreme? Glad I won't see you on the battlefield.

Also, you are still part of the United State with or without South Africa. We just do not stand for your ideals anymore.

I'm just worrying, my friends, that some of you are becoming radicals. When we win, we will only arrest Foster and/or Browder. We will not deep fry him or serve him at a fast food drive-thru.

Just fight the war for peace and freedom, and do not let the freedom and power get to your heads.

Of course we arrest them. We just let the families of the peaceful protesters do the interrogation.

If you consider war extreme then you are the most radical of us all.

I have proof you like your presidents extra crispy :mischief:

You mean this?
Man do I hope we capture Foster and/or Browder. I'd love to see them hanging from the gallows or become extra crispy from the chair.
That was just me expressing my desire to see them pay for their crimes. If the situation was reversed you'd be at least thinking the same thing.

Say what you will, I was not the first to secede

:agree:

As far as my reconstruction bill goes, the two anti-communist proposals (the banning on the party and the private property amendment), they are both to prevent another Foster from coming into power. I'm guessing some want it to be far more radical.

Yeah ban communism. That went well last time. I'm pretty sure extreme communism will die down by itself.

The bill will backfire and hard. The only way to deal with the Communists is the way Debs did. While he was there there was peace. The other aspect was a non-interventionist policy which Bruce broke with. When the war with Argentina happened, the end of democracy was already spelt out.

The bill is the reason we took power.

We're just banning the really radical ones, and it has a set expiration date.

That still won't go well because there are a lot of communists and people with power who don't like communists will abuse the bill I promise you.

Office of Michael Linz, exiled former US Constitutional Lawyer:
While I approve of the effort of the Trotskyists plan to restore and correct the wrongs of the CPUSSA, I must propose my own plan and list of amendments to the Constitution as a counter proposal that will neither interfere with the rights of the average citizen while protecting private property. The recovery proposal is this:

USA Recovery Amendment:

Section 1:
A reconciliation and compensatory commission, hereby established as the "Grievances and Reconciliation Council" will be given the responsibilities of determining, adjudicating, and reconciling actions of the Foster and Browder administrations. This council will give full amnesty to those who willingly confess their crimes to the council, express sorrow, and serve the community for no less than 400 hours. The list of those who will be granted amnesty excludes former President Foster and current President Browder, along with the Justices of the Supreme Court, USSA Congressional members, all members of the military above the rank of Colonel, and all governors, legislatures, and judicial members of the states. These individuals will be subject to investigation and prosecution.

Section 2:
The right of a citizen to private property will not be infringed; If private property is need for a public works project, the citizen is entitled to full compensation at market value for the property and further legal discourse.

Section 3:
The Constitution, as a legal framework and protection of rights, may never be suspended at any point during peace or war nor may any single part be suspended at any point. The writ of Habeas Corpus can only be suspended for 30 days with a 3/4 majority from both parts of Congress necessary for an extension.

Section 4:
The death penalty cannot be used as a weapon by the Federal government as a means of suppressing protests or rebellion.
Section 5:
No political party may be banned, no matter how radical its views. The legislation and actions of its government, however, are subject to the Constitution of the United States and all amendments therein.

Section 6:
Congress shall have the power to enforce this bill with appropriate legislation.

Section 7:
All bills in conflict with this bill are declared null and void.

This bill sounds much better and more practical. However, who would lead the investigation ?
An independent committee, representing views across the political spectrum along with several Constitutional lawyers, prosecutors, and detectives. They would lead the national investigation with individual states leading their own with oversight from the Federal government. The defendants are still entitled to their own private defence.

Nazi Party Takes Control!

The Government of Germany has reported that the National Socialist German Worker's Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, or NSDAP), for the first time, won a plurality in the German Reichstag. Gaining 11.7 million - 33% - of the popular vote, they now control 196 seats, out of a total of 584 seats. This is a gain of 89 seats from the last election, in 1930, when they had 107 seats; it is amongst the greatest gains any political party has made in history. Following the Nazi Party in the number of seats is the Socialist Democratic Party, with 121 seats, followed by the German Communist Party (who were the former plurality holders), with 100 seats.

German voters (at least those who wern't Communists themselves) have feared the rising Communism of the United Socialist States of America, and were suspicious of American diplomatic activities. A straw poll conducted on November 1 showed that 55% of respondents, including self-proclaimed German Communists, were distrustful of American activities. Many say that America is actively conspiring to turn Germany into a puppet state, "to be nothing more than a wall between it and Russia," in the words of an anonymous voter. Loss of prestige was another concern, especially in the wake of France declaring its independence from German overlordship.

The Nazi Party, with its charismatic leader Adolf Hitler, heavily capitalized on such fears. Using rhetoric extolling the virtues of Germany and "The Fatherland," he has demonized opposition groups, particularly German Communists. Hitler has also played up fears regarding ethnic minorities, particularly Jews, Gypsies, and Slavs. "Propaganda posters have been springing up everywhere, like dandelions," in the words of one voter. "They all say that they're the only ones, the only ones who can save Germany from the Asiatic hordes of Slavs to the East and degenerate Americans to the West." Now with a plurality in the Reichstag, Hitler has stated that he will make Germany the most powerful country in the world, surpassing the likes of America, Britain, and Russia.

One example of such a propaganda poster.

OCC: Sorry for not posting my "awesome stories." First, finals are occurring right now. Second, the flood of posts is simply too overwhelming. But hey, I'm back, and with a nasty surprise!

I agree that the 20 years ban might be too radical, so I will reduce it to 8 years, to prevent it from retaking power in the immediate political vacuum.

Here is the amended version, adding the last amendment I made and incorporating Linz's bill.

Trevisan Recovery Bill
Section 1
All parties to the political or economic left of the Trotskyists shall be banned from existing until Janurary 1, 1941.
Subsection A. This shall be determined by a nonpartisan committee of citizens selected in a similar way to jury duty, ensuring that inherently biased citizens are not selected.
Subsection B. Between December 1st, 1940 and January 1st, 1941, Congress shall decide on whether to continue this ban and for how long, with this clause included. If it is discontinued, Section 1 of this bill shall be amended to state "no political parties may be banned by national, state, or local governments, unless they have been proven to endorse and execute treason against the United States Government."
Section 2
All prisoners imprisoned by national laws passed during Browder's or Foster's administration or abuse of already existing laws during that administration shall be freed.
Subsection A. Abuse of laws during the past two terms shall be investigated by a special senatorial committee and any abuses will be added to the list of charges in Section 3.
Section 3
President Foster, President Browder, and all national level communist leaders and supreme court justices during their terms shall be tried by the Senate for Violation of the 1st Amendment, Violation of the 4th Amendment, Suspension of Habeas Corpus, multiple charges of Murder, lying to the general public about government affairs, and suspension of democratic principles, among any others raised during investigation.
Subsection A. Supreme Court members charged for these crimes will be temporarily replaced by new presidential appointees approved by Congress, and they will permanently assume Supreme Court membership if their respective accused are found guilty.
Section 4
At least two parties with significantly politically or economically opposed views must run during each election.
Subsection A. This shall be determined by a nonpartisan committee of citizens selected in a similar way to jury duty, ensuring that inherently biased citizens are not selected.
Section 5
The government cannot forcefully seize or purchase privately owned lands, unless it is for the purpose of constructing internal improvements, where the owner will be fully reimbursed, or temporarily for the purposes of criminal investigation.
Section 6
The death penalty is unconditionally banned in all states and territories.
Section 7
Congress shall have the power to enforce this bill with appropriate legislation.
Section 8
All bills in conflict with this bill are declared null and void.
