Ok,here's how it works.
Although it may sound simple,it may not be so-so.

Requirements:
==========
Civilization III Map Editor
And The Will To Cheat

Okay,first,open the map editor,and create your own custom map.Make shure the others have an equal match in resouce,luxuriex etc..But then make an extra continent.Just for your own.Get it? On that continent,add in as much resource as you can (especially RAILROADS and URANIUM).Ouh yeah,add a pretty good amount of GOODY HUTS too.Add a starting location,save the map,and we are ready to go (dont forget to customize your rivals too.)

Once your in Civ 3,click Load Scenario.Then keep on loading till you start on your own starting location (the one with railroads and rich resoure).Here's how it works :

ANCIENT AGE
==========
Okay,since you have railroads,so its 0 turns per-move (pretty slick huh?).Now,this is an essential time.Build your city and set the production to worker.With your present one,explore your continent.Get through the GOODY HUTS.Now,some of them might be angry barbarians but,to hell with them.Some of them contain civilization advances.If you placed enough,the next thing you know is your in the MIDDLE AGES!

MIDDLE AGES
==========
Unfortunately,the GOODY HUTS will only support you till the MIDDLE AGES.It cant give anymore civ advancements once you reach the MIDDLE AGES.So,this is the perfect time to expand your civ.Build bases,and once you've researched Navigation,start sending out Galleons with Settlers in them.With this,find your rivals territory,and build some bases there.This will give you some advantages when waging war against them.

INDUSTRIAL AGES
=============
Now..everything is going steady and stuff so this is still NOT THE PERFECT TIME for war.So,during this period,concentrate on expanding your civ and scientific research.Make sure you build everything that is to be built.

MODERN AGES
==========
In no time,you'll reach here.Now this is the most PERFECT TIME for war.Research on Fission.Then build the Manhattan Project.After that's done,build 10 ICBM 's for starters.Built your empire,start conquering.You should be leading right now.

Xtra Tips :
=======
1.Make sure each of your bases have these stuff :
Courthouse - Reduce Corruption
Library,University and Research Lab - Increase Research
Barracks - Veteran Units
Marketplace and Banks - Increase Tax Revenues.
2.Dont set your civ on Democracy,set it on Republic.
3.Create lot's of transport so it'll be easy for you to transport
your units to enemy territory
4.Make sure you've got a ton of ICBM so that you can easily
eliminate your rival.

That's it though!Anyway,wan info on my civ?
mail me.And if you dont have a map,of too lazy to create one,you can just get it from me.Just mail me for comments and stuff.That's all.Bye!

Euhm, where is the fun part of this strategy...

well why dont you post a start map? Actually it can ba fun, when you dont feel like losing, or just want to test sg... :)

So whats the strategy to this? Anyone with a few minutes to kill can make a map that gives you an overwhelming starting point.

But it might be fun to play one of your maps but let one of the AI civs have that super start location.

I could see this be useful. I one tried to make a second worker unit, called engineer (civ 2 anyone?) and had it late in the game. after sinking hours into it, I learned that it CRASHED the game every damn time. with this strat guide to cheating, I coulda cut some time out

I've done stuff like this.
It was so boring I never made it out of b.c. before quiting.

Also you can assign your start position as player one and assign player one's tech lv to post modern giving you all techs. Indeed you have not only cheated but done so badly.

I did a similar one but it was a scenario & I gave the AI no strategic or luxury resorses (until I made contact that is), their land was all grassland & gold covered hills and mine was all plains, moded for all resorces, covered with all resorces, goodie huts & railroads & producing 50 food, shields and gold.

The only challenge, playing on deity, was the massive amounts of barbs out of the goodie huts every turn. So I only ever play it when I feel like being really mean without making any effort.

It's never lasted a whole game 'though.

Well,to be honest,this strategy is recommended only for STARTERS.But for Pro's,It's best that you do not use this kinda strategy.It's a waste of time and only for "L" type of persons (Losers)

I wouldn't really recommend it for beginners either. It won't teach you much about how succeed in a normal game. It could even be detrimental in teaching bad habits.

But if you're in a really mean mood and you want to blow up some stuff, it could be fun for a few minutes. Don't even bother playing it for too many turns. Use the editor to pre-place a bunch of nukes and let 'em fly. Sort of like unleashing a wave of disasters in Sim City. Then after you blow off some steam, start a regular game.

I found doing experiments with the AI was interesting. Like give One civ iron & horses and another one saltpeter (& the appropriate techs if necessary), give them about 5000 gold each and sit back & see what happens, whether they try to destroy each other or pick on a civ that got nothing.

Or Produce heaps of settlers & escorts, landing them on the biggest AIs land, declare war on them then just start bulding any where possible & giving the cities away to random civs so that you have a continent that kind of resembles fairy bread or a pizza.

Yeah, I do something like this in chess;set up the board, then REMOVE THE OPPONENTS KING.Convince someone to have a game with you and then laugh maniacly at them until . . .:crazyeye:

I can't see anything fun in a map like that...

Same here...

:confused:

Weird. :crazyeye:

I don't see any startegy here, but I can understand that some would find it fun to crush the AI like that once. But why bother with goody huts etc? You can give the human player all existing techs and 1000 MA in the editor. Why don't you do that, so that you should be able to eliminate all AIs in 5 turns instead of 100? It should be 20 times more fun. :p

Cheating is for woosies. I have no will to cheat. I think cheaters should be shot. There is nothing worse than a cheater, except maybe culture-flipping AI civs.

OMG UR DOING IT ALL WRONG DON'T YOU KNOW YOU CAN GET 36,000 POINTS IN ONE TURN??? ROTFLMFAO

*cough* Excuse me! I'm terribly sorry..

I think its a fun strategy for the type of people who like to build everything. like people who put use the money cheat in the Sim's, just so they can have a house with everything

Why don't you just put all the AI's on one-tile islands? That way, they can never even make a settler to expand with. Of course, you can't conquer them til you get marines, but you should have won a domination/culture win thousands of years before that anyway.

Perhaps I am mistaken, but isn't the point of the game of chess to capture your opponant's King? If you take it off the board.... the chances of you winning are very small...... which doesn't sound like fun.

More in line with the original post in this thread, what you should do is set up the chess board, take off the opponant's king, then invite one of your friends over to play, and then smack them in the head with a shovel! While they are screaming and running around and all that, you simply declare yourself the winner!! Whoohoo!!!
