It's about inflation, but I found the spending more interesting then the inflation.
A highly enlightening NYT pie chart.




Transportation: 18% of the budget! Less then half a percent goes to public transportation! That's crazy!

Well, not that crazy. Public Transportation is really only an option if you live in one of say, 30 cities. I am one of the only people in Columbus that uses it, and I only take the bus to work, or to a hockey game.

Is that what you get when you upgrade Quicken? Kinky pie charts?

It actually looks like my own spending chart. Neat-o. I'm guessing they don't include interest payments or investments as "consumer spending". Too bad, it'd be nice to see the full cash flow statement of the average person.
