Ok folks here we go with game #1. if you want More info on our first leader Alexander as well as the games settings, go to the Pre-game show thread, found HERE. If you want to know more about the rules and goal of the ARIP, go to the locker room found HERE.
So lets start with a screenie of the games settings.
And with that I start up the game, and after the loading screen (without the movie that starts the game from vanilla Civ4, which i miss) we are here- in 4000BC.
And our starting Position-
First thing i noticed was not one but TWO corn tiles right next to us. also as you can see we are right next to the coast, and there is a fish resource we can use as well. so- thoughts?
Im planning myself on moving the scout 2E, to see more whats on the other side of the river. as for my settler, i think settling 1N is the best option. i still get all 3 food resources in my BFC, but also get a defensive bonus for being on a hill. also it looks like there is some tundra south of me, as well as snowy trees, which seems to indicate im south of the equator, near the southern tundra. id like to avoid tundra in my capitals BFC if at all possible. finally we must look at build order. I start with hunting so building another scout or 2 makes sense, to explore and pop the ever useful goody huts, especially before my neighbors can get to them all. I'm definitely gonna need a work boat for the fish, and a worker to get those corn tiles online. speaking of which ill need agriculture to get those corn tiles online, which leads us to tech.
I start with fishing and hunting. agriculture is obviously high priority due to those corn tiles, but i may want to go with AH first to reveal horses and wait to get agriculture when im building my first worker. obviously Mining/BW is important as well to find where the copper ill need for my UU is hiding. finally the wheel will likely be needed for roads sometime around when im founding city #2, since i dont think that river is gonna conveniently lead to another good city spot.
anyway tell me what you think. im thinking AH>Agri>mining>BW>wheel>?pottery? and city #1 build order being scout>scout>work boat>worker>warrior. however i may have to switch the work boat and warrior depending on barb activity, which still shouldnt be too bad considering this is noble, but well see.
thoughts?
