There isn't really a humor section to this area, and really, attacko is a creature of the strategy and tips forum.

These are the attacko posts that I could find in 10 minutes of simple searching - for those who did not see them in their original...

You don't have to necro them - just enjoy!

He didn't title them this way - I did.

Thanks - I didnt' see the "Go Advanced" button at first, so thought I couldn't edit the title at all.

I wasn't here during the time of his reign and still asking myself:
Is he a troll or simply a public (and voluntary simulated) buffon amusing people?

Well, that sucked - is there any way to change the thread title? I hit enter by accident as I was editing it...

You should be able to edit the title by editing the OP.

Thanks! I was actually looking for "Raze and Ruins- Attacko's Guide to City Destruction and Expansion" as I need documentation for a running SG... Maybe i will find it now! :goodjob:

You are so crazy! :nono:

Did I say something bad? I said I don't know much of his persona.

Hum, sorry about that, i make terrible jokes :) (serious answer: maybe he is. that's up to you. But actually plenty of his advices are applicable to civing. obviously, the "buddhist typhon" was not ;))

^^^yeah, the funny thing about troy/attacko's advice is that as funny and bizarre as it sounds, there are elements of truth to some of the wackiness. Try out his strategies sometime.

The Art of Desert Warfare is applied to Civ5, we can't buy any workers in Civ4.

I tend to think of attacko as the Andy Kaufman of Civ. For those of you who have no idea who that is, think Sacha Baron Cohen or Stephen Colbert.

Great thread! I think that this post best sums up what attacko is all about.

it is an excerpt from a gaming site. apparently "Attacko" was a legendary civ3 multiplayer that stopped playing much and wrote a few things on Civ4.
In so far as "warranting" claims, there are a few user reviews, one from this very board
"It works great" - Obsolete (noble player)
"I have been stuck at Prince forever, but after this quick read through i am playing (and winning) at Diety"- Jonathan Beckmier (former prince level player)

So basically troytheface does not come up with these advanced strategies, he merely finds attacko's methods (probably in a tome not unlike Sun Tzu's Art of War) and presents them to us.

It's interesting to trawl back and find some of troytheface's somewhat "normal" posts, not adopting the voice of attacko.

I think that one of the best links to understand attacko is missing here. If I recall correctly there was a post or thread devoted specifically to Venn diagrams and their importance or rather, "why they are the superior". No one can really appreciate Attacko's strategies without understanding just why Venn diagrams are so necessary, unfortunately I was unable to find it, it may be in the civ 5 forum.

I don't believe Attacko is (or ever was) a forum member. At least he is no longer on the member list.

I'd forgotten about the recommendation to build either SP or Statue of Zeus at the expense of all other early wonders in his strategy guide.

Edit: from Troytheface's own description:
it is an excerpt from a gaming site. apparently "Attacko" was a legendary civ3 multiplayer that stopped playing much and wrote a few things on Civ4.

I've always assumed that Troy and Attacko were one and the same. "Attacko" being some made-up legendary war tactician that provides legitimacy to his guides.

Long ago, the Amphibious Elephant guide was the first guide I read. I thought it was real and tried it. It works. In fact, it was through this so called guide that I explore the usage spies for revolting cities, marines with transport and Naval support.

The irony....
