Automate workers?

In CIV4, I usually start out controlling all my workers so that I can get what I need out of my first city ASAP. Later in the game I automate the bulk of my workforce, but still keep one or two workers handy in case I need to rush them to a newly-discovered resource.

Not sure about CivRev, though, I'm mostly a PC-Gamer.

I wanted to control and automate them. The reason I want to control them is that the automated workers build an unnecessary improvements over my domain. Example of this is building a fort near a city that is obviously safe. There is only one point in the game were I automate them. That is, when having too much worker to control.
