Under what circumstances do you change your mind or alter your opinion on any given topic?

Do you change your mind at the drop of a hat, or does it take lengthy periods of attempts at convincing you to sway your mind?

Do you change your mind on a topic based upon rational arguments or emotional appeals (or both)?

Once you've changed your mind, are you prone to reverting to your old opinion?

Do you form opinions on everything, or do you leave some things undecided?

Do your answers to the above questions vary by topic under consideration (eg answer one way for religion, another for politics, yet another for sports), or do you form your opinions in all areas via the same process?

1. Considerable evidence or a severe gap in whatever my original opinion was....usually a combination.

2. Usually it's longer....but that's not to mean I'm not open-minded to the other argument. It's just wrong. :p
But a couple times, I've been blown over quickly, I'll admit it.

3. A little from column A, a little from column B.

4. Not really.

5. I leave some things undecided. And some things I just don't care about.

6. Perhaps, never thought about it. I guess it varies.

But you can never change your opinion in here or in real life with other pundit-wannabes like we can be! Because then you reveal how truly evil you were!

1. If there's a very good point for the other side, I might switch my opinion.

2. It usually takes awhile.

3. Rational arguments more or less.

4. It's possible, especially if I'm iffy about an issue.

5. I leave some undecided, which is sort of like the above question. If there's too many things going either way, I'll just leave it.

6. I try to keep my answers consistent.

I will have to look into the matter further, consult other sources, then wait a while for the dust to settle.

I try to resort to reason as much as possible. That however can't happend every time.

In the face of new and at least as compelling evidence, yes.

Do you form opinions on everything, or do you leave some things undecided?
Unfortunately, I don't know it all ;)

I try to remain flexible, but coherent.

For me it really depends on the topic..

If it's about science, I easily switch my opinion.. When someone gives undeniable evidence of something or when a professor tells me something about a certain subject I don't know so much about, I could change my mind easily.. That is, I trust the other person's judgement when I know he or she knows more on the topic than I do..

When it comes to religion, I really can't be changed in opinion.. Since I'm somewhere between Atheism and Agnostism I believe one simply can't know wether or not there is a God..

On a political level it's somewhere in the middle for me.. I might change my mind on rational or even emotional arguments if I consider the arguments given better than my own thoughts on the subject..

I don't form opinions about everything, simply because there's just too much to have an opinion about in the world, and too little time to get all the facts straight..

Change your mind? Why that would imply that I was originally wrong, and that's not possible. ;)

1. After a very well reasoned agruement that can be proved.
2. Length of time it takes depends on the issue.
3. Rational appeals only.
4. I am prone to revert to my old oppenent (such as my move from socialism to totally free market and back to socialism)
5. I have opinions on most things.
6. Most things are done using the above process.
