OPTION A
1. put in chocolate milk powder
2. put in milk
3. stir

PRO: delicious chocolate sludge at the bottom allows you to finish the glass with a flourish
CON: The rest of the glass (above the bottom) will be less chocolatey for a given quantity of powder used.

OPTION B
1. put in milk
2. put in chocolate milk powder
3. stir

PRO: Uniform chocolatiness throughout
CON: No capstone chocolate sludge

the key issue here is whether you like a constant chocolatiness throughout or if you like some variance.

ASSUME THE AMOUNT OF MILK AND AMOUNT OF CHOCOLATE POWDER IS CONSTANT BETWEEN THE OPTIONS.

I don't know what to say if you're fiddin to go on about how you don't like chocolate milk or you dont like the powder mix or whatever. :run:

I eat the chocolate milk powder straight out of the tin so this hypothetical makes no sense to me.

But b. It's clearly more efficient.

I used to be an Option A man, but I have switched to Option B.

I don't particularly like chocolate milk
but
this weekend I used a differen option.

1. put in milk
2. use a piece of (real) chocolate on a stick (my mom melted a chocolate bar and used an icecube mold to create blocks of chocolate with a stick in it)
3. let the chocolate melt in the milk

(4. put in some liquor)

This doesn't really work for Milo.

I usually switch off now and then.

Option B though is a bit nicer than A though.

By the way, I want a c

OPTION C
1. put in milk
2. stir
3. put in chocolate milk powder gingerly while continuing to stir and thinking happy thoughts.

Don't want the choco to go lumpy.

a. can work when you first pour in a little milk, stir and then top up on milk while stirring.

OP is hopelessly lacking in correct chocolate milk producing procedures.

It does. Option B just takes a while to do.

I don't like that sludge, such a pain to eat and clean off. B it is.

allright, I know this isn't chocolate but it's needed for a theory cause, like I said I'm not a big fan of chocolate milk, and don't use either option.

I do however drink Instant soup.. which is basically the same principle, right?

hot liquid
powder
and bam, a (tasty) drink.

anyway when I drink that soup I use option A
However I don't have issues with sludge on the bottom of the cup.

Where am I going with this rambling:
Using Option A, it should be possible to avoid the sludge. This should lead to an equal result for option A and B.

Option B, but I also use syrup, instead of powder. Less messy, and as the advantage of also being being useful for ice cream!

I use chocolate syrup, not powder, but option B is still my procedure.
