It always annoyed me that there are no hotkeys for game saving and loading and you are forced to select it from "game" menu every time.
Recently I've found a simple solution for this: open file menu.txt (it's inside the main game's folder). This file describes ingame menu. You can rename its entries and see your changes while playing. Letters preceded by a ~ sign are hotkeys. That means you can find a Load Game string and change it to ~Load Game: this will make an L key a shortcut for loading game! Same goes with "Save Game" string.
Though it's probably not a best solution to set S key for saving and L for loading: these keys are already used elsewhere (for Sentry and Load Cargo). It may be better to make something like "Save Game (~H)" and "Load Game (~J)". Or edit Sentry and Load Cargo entries.
