Diplomacy statuses not showing!

Hiya all, noob here!

So I got this problem after installing Civ 5 on my new laptop with Win8: after finally installing it succesfully, I started playing but I can't see the diplomacy statuses... It's not showing the other civ's status towards me, as in if they're hostile/friendly/guarded towards me. I don't think its because of the new civilizations mod, 'cause in my previous laptop it didn't affect that in any way and I've tried to play the game without any mods at all and still it's not showing those statuses.

I scanned the topics on this forum quickly but didn't see a topic concerning this problem... Any thoughts anyone? It would really help to see the AI civ's diplomacy.

To my knowledge I'm playing vanilla... The version I'm using is a SKIDROW dl from PirateBay..

And I know I should have/get the original legitimate version but I have neither the money or the means to get one.
Hope you have some insight to this problem.

Hmm, guess I'm gonna hafta try another version and see if the problem is solved with that...
