Does the game difficulty change with game speed?

I've always been playing on Normal, so is it easier/harder on marathon. And is it specific[for certain civs] or for generally all civs?

Its certainly easier as civs which need to conquer a lot of territory, like Arabia, Persia, or Mongolia. This is simply because your troops have much, much longer to get to where they need to be. You spend proportionally less time travelling, which means you spend more time fighting, and you can wait longer to move out.

For more passive civs? I've personally not noticed much difference.

In the regular game marathon makes it easier, because units move much faster in comparison to tech pace, making them obsolete much slower.

I generally get higher scores in slower games, but with worse Stability.

I would think that marathon is also easier for Portugal and Holland, with their exploration objectives.

for most civs,epic is easier than normal.and for mongolia and persia,the slower,the better

I find Marathon speeds make conquering/colonising objectives easier because of the huge time to move.

On the flipside, I find I have more problems with stability, inflation, stability, and stability
