Such is the chant heard outside the court room, the throng of peasants banging at the gates to the estate. The guards would have them off the governorial lawns at once.

The messenger strides in. An aged, non-descript fellow.

"Apologies, my Lord. It seems the news has reached the streets ahead of me."

"I bring grave news indeed, my Liege. King Willhem Undsor is dead, gored by a bear hunting. The Boy Prince Harald has gone missing with no word from his mother.. the lands are in rebellion."

Your advisor comes to the table.

"My lord, it is time."

He lays the leather map down on the dark wood and puts weights on the uncooperating corners.

"Lay claim to your lands."

WAR! War has come to the kingdom of Arnoth. The King is dead and his heir in hiding. Do you have what it takes to claw your way to the top?!

The Kingdom itself:

Ours is the Kingdom of Arnoth, ancient in myth yet recent in origin. Your settlements were incorporated into the Kingdom not more than 500 years ago, and have not yet fully assimilated. The Deepmurk river runs through the middle of it (several times), largely heading eastward, somewhere. The rains and winds from the west are near constant, and the kingdom has an overabundance of deep, fast-flowing rivers. So much so, in fact, that the great rivers have ever only been bridged around four times. Yes, around. Crossings are not entirely impossible otherwise, however.

Beyond the Kingdom:

The Kingdom of Arnoth is relatively isolated. There exist beyond the Garath mountains in the north and south great empires that would do eachother (and you) in if they could. To the west, the endless Brimwood Bog. To the east lies the Kingdom of Ediron, our ancient neighbors.

The Game:

Each turn will be 1 month in length. Assume we follow something similar to the modern-day Gregorian calendar; that is, 12 months to a year, 30-ish days each, give or take.

Updates will be 'messenger' style, as seen above. They will be presented as if to a neutral observer, and be summarical in detail. Thus, they will be short, and easy to write.

You may cooperate with eachother (or not) and detail each event regarding you further! Huzzah!

Writing a story and cooperating with eachother will earn you "RP" points (no matter the quality, but do try!), which can be spent in later game (should we get there) on special, awesome items, skills or miscellanea. I especially like seeing characters develop through the months. Points will be declared publicly every 10 turns.

1g = 100 Peasants. Cheap unarmed throw-aways en masse.
1g = 30 Archers. Long-ranged death for your money.
1g = 20 Spearmen. Tightly packed mobile shield walls.
1g = 10 Falxmen. Sickle wielding fanatics.

On an unrelated note, may I ask everyone why they chose those starting settlements? I was brainstorming last night on some possibly strategies players would take.
