Fields of Glory II is a historical turn-based tactics game.
It is a war game, covering the Roman era from before Christ, allowing you to fight battles in various places over Europe.
The base game is currently for free on Steam, until June 8, 9 AM.
The DLCs are not included, but are currently also heavily discounted.

I'm curious why they stop the game's chronology at the time when Christ comes around. That certainly wasn't the end of the history of the Roman Empire.

- And from the standpoint of military history, it's a pretty arbitrary date: the following century saw the Roman Legion modified to include spearmen to counter the heavy Sarmatian and Alan cavalry (armored lancers), and another century or three saw the Romans incorporating 'barbarian' heavy cavalry and Hun horse archers into the Roman forces as auxiliaries and adding small catapults as 'field artillery' to the legions. Some potentially very interesting battlefield developments for a game that focuses on the tactical battles . . .

Plus the Romans faced organized Judean guerilla tactics in the first century or two, after, as well.

It appears from their Steam page that the game doesn't hold quite so solidly to its given definition: I saw DLCs labeled Medieval and Byzantine that indicate they've extended the Basic Game well past its original End Date.
