Formula 1 2011

It is a good track but it doesn't necessarily have the best straight plus breaking zone to fit in with the new rules.

Why does it seem dated? Because of the gravel traps that catch the drivers out if they make a mistake, as to the parking lots on other tracks which give you a get out of jail card each time you run off track?
That is one of the reasons. It is also surrounded by Armco and is fairly narrow by today's standards. It is also a very old venue by F1 standards. It will be 50 years old next year.

There were still a number of passes made there. But I agree that the braking zone is atypical. There would have likely been more if the entry to T1 wasn't so fast.

But it is still a much better track than most of the current circuits. However, that doesn't seem to be a major decision maker for F1. The Turkey track was also one of the better ones, but it was also dropped.

India was kind of disappointing. The track looked good but the races are starting to feel very familiar. Vettel opens up a 5 second gap within the first couple of laps and then maintains that whilst the rest of the fast cars squabbling over second for the next five places. Then comes the Mercedes which are in no mans lands and then after them its the Force Indias or lately Torro Rosso. Williams and Sauber seem to have struggled more as the season has gone on.

In some respects it would be nice if there were some more reliability issues so that the running order gets shaken up a bit more other than when Hamilton and Massa crash into each other again and again.

It has turned into the Sebastian Vettel show. At least there has been some good dicing further in the back.

Just watched Senna. What a great flick. If you are an F1 fan this is a must see.
