It will be 50 years old next year.Why does it seem dated? Because of the gravel traps that catch the drivers out if they make a mistake, as to the parking lots on other tracks which give you a get out of jail card each time you run off track?
There were still a number of passes made there. But I agree that the braking zone is atypical. There would have likely been more if the entry to T1 wasn't so fast.It is a good track but it doesn't necessarily have the best straight plus breaking zone to fit in with the new rules.
