Really? I couldn't gift a Great Prophet that had spread as Sweden, although it was captured.

Yeah, going full-fledged religion spamming as Sweden is a very good strategy. Not only can you do the spread-religion-three-times-and-then-gift trick for Great Prophets but if you can nab the "To The Glory Of God" Reformation belief Diplomatic victory is probably in the bag for you.
