Has anyone tried this with Louis?

In your second city get a state religion, build a shrine and build the Great Library and Temple of Artemis. Beeline to Astronomy and build a salon.

You've got a priest, two scientists and an artist (4 free specialists) sitting in that city. Build heaps of farms and build it into a GP farm, switch to Pacifism and you'll be pumping out the Great People of all sorts (Merchants, prophets, scientists or artists). If you can add an Engineer from your forge.

Louis is also the best candidate to build the Great Library because of his cheap libraries and faster wonder production.

I guess grabbing marble early is the key to get Temple of Artemis and maybe even the Parthenon.

What do you guys think?

Astronomy is not going to come long before scientific method which will obselete GL. Its a decent idea but I dont think its going to be game-breaking.

Good luck getting that built in a food rich and thus likely production poor city. And most people would rather not have the artist (I get enough of them as it is from the national epic).

If you want great people, get a philisophical civ. You can still build the Great Library fairly easily if you have marble, and then those two scientists are doubled for GP points

The only advantage you get for being Louis is the free ga...which some people might consider not to be an advantage at all. Otherwise you could still do this with any industrious leader (or happen apon marble).
