Hey, I'm probably decent at Civ 5 in all of their victories. I keep reading up on people managing to achieve turn 2xx science victories on standard and I'm struggling. I got the hubble telescope built around turn 300. Can anyone give me any advice on how to improve? Thanks.

first can someone explain how to put save files onto the forums?

I've been trying this myself by giving myself the target of Plastics, with all research labs built and staffed by turn 220 at the very latest. Even with Babylon, Spain near GBR or Krakatoa I can only manage turn 210.

I can only conclude these sub 200 SV are due to science buffer overflow exploits.

To improve I think you need 4 cities and the 3 early wonders you want are Petra, Colossus, and Oracle. Try settle on the coast so you can send food cargo ships rather than food caravans. An early NC is a must so you can get to Education sub turn 100. Religion shouldn't be focused on, but you must found one so you can build the Grand Temple. Also no waiting in the Medieval era so you can buy faith buildings, once you hit Education research Acoustics so the Rationalism tree can be unlocked quicker.

You need at least 4 cities. If you can manage to have up 6 cities around T140/150 with enough gold to rush aqueduct/library and universities, it's better.

Settle 4cities before T60 - Build NCbefore T100 - Universities up as soon as possible with specialist slots filled - Caravan (ideally cargo ships) for feeding your cities.
Growth + Tradition + Rationalism.
Except you don't have coal, get Order.
Tech path -> Writing -> Philo -> Education -> Acoustics (to avoid to waste a social policies in anything except Rationulism) or Astronomy if you have cities near mountain -> Scientific Theory -> Radio (through Electricity, search Industrialization when you're building Oxford for Radio) -> Chemistry (Fertilizer if you have plantations or over 3 farms without fresh water) -> Plastics -> Sattelites -> Robotics -> Advanced Ballistics -> Partical physics (I use to reach Nanotech with Ratio finisher).
Build 2 academies with first GS, save next or settle it until plastics if you're going into Liberty.
Have a good faith income to buy 2to 3 GS with ratio finisher, with 2 from Hubble it's enough to end tech path from Sattelites if you have 4cities and 1300 bpt or 3 and 1100 bpt.
After Labs are up (for Order, doesn't really work with Liberty), wait 8 turns with ALL specialists slots filled. Then burn ALL your GS. Rush Hubble with a GE, you're normally have one just before Hubble if you filled you're specialist slot in workshop, factories since you unlocked secularism.

He was looking for sub 300 victories, which should be doable on any start, but the really super fast victories require spectacular starting positions.

As far as the Acoustics vs Astronomy (for observatories), that would depend on when your next policy is coming. If you will get a policy before Astronomy but after you could get Acoustics, then go Acoustics, otherwise, go Astronomy for a science victory, otherwise you waist time getting to your observatories for nothing that useful in a science victory.
