Chieftain
Hello fellow Civ 5 players.
Not sure if this is considered general discussion or strategy and tips, if you consider this to be the wrong section please move the thread. Also, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before, I searched the forum but didn't find a thread about it.
Out of curiosity I started experimenting with growing a city as big as possible to see if there was a "cap" on population in any one city. For the purpose of testing I played on Settler difficulty as Siam. I chose a Small pangea map swith 28 City States (to maximize amount of Maritime City States available) and only 1 AI civilization. I restarted the game until I got a starting location with lots of grassland and started focusing on growing. At 2100 AD I had a size 104 capital (did a OCC), producing almost 900 science and holding all of my 400 million population. Yet the city could keep growing!!!
Sadly, my game crashed and for some reason I can't reload it with an auto save, so I got no screenshots of it. I'm just curious if anyone knows just how large a city can actually become. I guess eventually the food just won't be sufficient but if you were to create a custom map with an ideal starting position for food and add the maximum amount of Maritime City States it could become huge assuming there is no cap.
TLDR: Is there a population cap in any one city? If not, how large do you reckon a city could become using a custom made, ideal map?
