How to limit some units to specific civs?

Hello.
How would I limit a unit such as a caravel to only some civs? I am trying to replicate the European age of discovery on a map so wish to limit caravels, frigates and ironclads to the appropriate western euro civs.

Use the PlayerCanTrain event, there are lots of examples out there

I just block the tech from specific civs. See this example file where I blocked the techs of native american, nomadic, southeast asian, and african civs.
