How to play as 2 separate Civilizations in one game?

I remember back in Civ 2 you had a multiplayer option for basically 2 people sitting at the same computer.

You could also just play with 2 different civilizations against however many Computer opponents.

It seems like AI teams up on you in a lot of cases anyway.

Can't figure out how to set a game up like that.

Anyone have any ideas?

Select multi-player, then hotseat.

Don't forget to set which players are human, and assign the teams. (Not that I've ever done that, of course...)

Well, you only need to use the team settings if you want the game to enforce an alliance.
If you trust the other person, you could just make it an oral agreement.
