This is a first for me. Neck and neck with Zara in the space race. He launched first, but he only had one engine. I launched the next turn with two engines, but only three casings. My spaceship might have been hanging together with duct tape, but it beat his to the finish line

Meanwhile another civ was pretty far into making his own spaceship, and another had two legendary cities, so this was a real squeaker of a victory. I've never seen anything like it, usually the late game is kinda boring because I know in advance whether I've won or lost.
Admittedly, this only happened because two of my spaceship parts got sabotaged, and then I didn't optimize well to compensate for that. Still exciting though. I got just the great people I needed to start a very late golden age, then two GEs to instantly finish the space elevator and get the last parts just in time.
