So...Playing earth as America, happened to start on the east coast of the US so I've been having a cool little alternate history thing going on...but that's not the point...

I just realized how the population/specialists working tiles thing works...
Before I just thought cities did stuff when you poked them with sticks and population didn't do much, OMG I ALL MAKES SENSE NOW!1!
I can't even...

Also, I found out ramming enemy transports with ships kills them right away instead of having to fire at them, unless you want to farm xp.
Also, you can rename units!?
What else does everyone else take for granted that I was too stupid to notice?...

Oh boy, the list goes on.

I'm working towards expanding my city limits to the 2nd and 3rd rings and then wham Shoshone drop a city and just grab all of my tiles because of their stupid broken UA

Do you play with the vanilla game? Embarked units can defend themselves with the extensions, which gave them a chance to survive at sea.

You can rename units but only during a promotion. There is a tiny button "rename" on the left of the unit's name. Wonder why it's not permanent.

If you use Enhanced User Interface it allows you to rename it anytime :3

I watched a UTube vid for the first time yesterday and really learned a lot. It was fun watching and learning. Now I can't wait to finish my current game and start over and try some of the things he did. He was using cav archers he would move in fire and move back for one thing. I knew this but just seeing how effective it was made me rethink.

Hehe, it`s always good to learn things. What I would recommend is getting G&K and BNW DLCs. Religion introduction and caravans just makes it more fun. Also depends what difficulty you are playing on but from my personal experience moving up the ladder makes your learning curve steeper.

What you`ll find useful in higher difficulties is to trade your resource with AI right away if you still have the same resource but unimproved tile. Let`s say you have 2 silver, 1 improved 1 unimproved and AI has 2 gold in diplomacy screen. You trade now because you still have 1 silver and before you will improve the other AI won`t have that gold anymore. You may also want try to trade even when AI has 1 copy because sometimes they are allied with CS who has same luxury resource and AI will trade it.

Happiness is just one of many issues early on, but I`m sure you`ll quickly find out all of them when put to pressure by cheating AI:)

Thanks! I was aware of the EUI but I don't want to use it.. It may be great for visualizing datas and a lot of things, but I prefer the "normal" interface". Also, I never turn on yeld/resources icons!

Thanks for the input gents. And I also don't like resource, yield or even hex icons on while playing.
