I triggered this aspect of the game at the start.

I got up to 1657, marathon, Governor. Large map Peter Stuyvesant

I had over 20 colonies, and had the top 3 out of the top 5 settlements. I made the largest nation and net work of colonies in any colonization game, 2008 or 1994 version.

I click victory conditions and I come to find that I'm producing just under 1/4 the goods required for Industrialization and only have 1/3 of the land mass requirement on domination (I was healthy in the population size though).

So I'm thinking of loading a save 127 years prior to where I'm at currently and starting more coastal colonies all across the map. It takes a very long time to get a city full of factories and specialists, so I'm figuring if I go back to early game (+ I like the map for being randomly generated).

I'm actually making my factory cities so they have lots of food production and outsource lumber and ore production to feeder colonies for food for more specialists toiling away in the factories.

I had two large networks of colonies in the middle of the map and lower portion of the map. I mostly focused on production of guns, naval units and cannons and am just beginning to get the full might of my industry behind the war effort.

Now I'm thinking I need to have multiple networks busily producing goods. Obviously its too late in the game at 1657 with rival Europeans also working hard on being the first to declare independence, so I have to start much earlier.

Has anyone on here won Industrialization or domination? The only thing I can figure out is be extremely ambitious in build as many powerful colonies as possible (as opposed to 3 which is what I had) and start work on them as soon and early into the game as possible.

I've won through Domination but I never tried industrialization (though I might try now).

Domination is purely a land grab. The easiest way to do this is get a large army , kill your opponents and build cities on their land. The peaceful method is through liberty bell production. As your borders expand build cities. If you're very powerful the indians will abandon their cities. Your main focus will be on those new cities (though don't neglect your original cities). Start the city with a carpenter and lumberjack. Have your pioneers built a farm first and a lodge. Use elder statesmen to expand the borders. This method will anger the indians so you must have a large army...so large the indians won't dare to start a war with you.

Although I've never tried to win by industrialization, I think an "industrious" leader like George Washington, Louis de Frontenac or Hernan Cortes would be better suited. The more advanced buildings produce a tremendous amount of goods. So getting them 20% faster would be a huge advantage.
