Is there a way to skip multiple turns?

Lets say I just started a game. I always play marathon. If my warrior or scout dies to animals in the first few turns and i'm waiting 20+ turns on my warrior/workboat/worker/etc to finish, is there a way to skip the next 20 turns? If there is, what would happen if I say met a new leader would it stop the skipped and let me interact with the diplomacy screen?
