There have been few video games that have invaded my sleep. There was Lemmings. Then rolling up that Katamari. Now there's the hex grid.
I think, when judged in the context of its own time, Civ II, to date, was the greatest of all civ games. My favorite Civ memory was this epic bloodlust victory late in the game on the hardest difficulty of Civ II.
That may have now been replaced by an early game capture of Tenochitlan, and Monty coming to me in tears with a big pile of gold, begging me for peace.
This is a fantastic game.
