I'm a massive Civ 4 fan, and am currently playing BTS. Just wondering with all the MODS out there, is there one that basically just adds a more basic amount of content to the base game. I don't want to modify the rules very much, just add more content to the vanilla BTS game. Like for example, more units, more techs, more resources, more improvements.

Again, I don't really want to use the big mods that change the gameplay, I just want to add more content to the game itself.

Could one of you Civ 4 vets point me in the right direction. Searching through the MODS section is daunting at best, and most mods seem to alter the core rules.

Thanks!

Try Thomas' War:

It basically does just what you say, adds more content to almost all areas of the game without significantly altering the base rules:

"The aim of this mod is to try to simulate an expansion pack; to significantly add to the game without significantly changing the core game play. This doesn’t mean that new stuff wasn’t added, but instead when you first load up the mod you won’t have to relearn how to play or the tech-tree or which units to shoot for. When I did add something, I tried my best to not only make sure they had a unique role or function (to accomplish this many units and buildings have original python based abilities), but also attempt to keep things balanced, fun, in the style of civ 4, and with historical basis."

It has a Thomas' War Concept section in its Civlopedia to help you adjust to the new wonders and civs and stuff as well.

If that doesn't interest you then I suggest Chiyu's BTS' Extra Mod

It basically tries to combine all the stuff included in the official BTS mods but not in the standard game.

Try Rise of Mankind. You can't go wrong.
