LotR4 - 5CC Conquest

A deity 5CC conquest? Are you insane?!?

Good, I thought so. I was considering whether to do a LotR 5 or not. Would a 5CC deity conquest appeal? Do it on a small (or tiny) map with mostly water and it should be doable. Heck, I often only get 5 cities built early on deity anyway!

Civ? Land type?

Hmmm....
Do I finally give in and play Deity to completion?

This is the logical end of the 5cc challenge. LK31 already looks to easy with plenty of luxuries and horses within the 5 cities borders.

Nah, the ULTIMATE 5 city challenge would be 100k culture. :)

5CC Deity conquest? I'll try it, sure, if we restrict it to conquest-only (otherwise a spaceship or 100k will likely beat us.) Deity will give us problems in even establishing five cities... even on the standard map of Epic Nine I only had land for four right at the start! Tiny and we may be looking at a 3CC game. I'd vote for small map, continents... Japan would probably be the best, but we just did them here and in Epic Nine. Germany sounds very promising.

Heh. I'm not even sure if that's technically possible. To avoid the 20K city win you'd have to have all 5 cities reaching the 20K mark on the same turn. Which victory condition does the game check first? For a culture victory, does it tell you which one you qualified by?

I'm in for the Deity 5CC conquest game if that's going ahead :)

(Yay, Jaffa took the bait :D ) Sure it's possible. Just abandon each city just before it reaches 20k and found a new one. You keep the civ-wide culture from the city but won't reach a 20k win.

I don't think the game tells you which kind of cultural victory you achieved, no.

Whether there's enough culture in the game for 5 cities to reach 100k before 2050 is a completely different calculation, though :)

The reason behind the German choice would be for the ultra-early archer rush to get us the room we want for our cities. Also I would expect this one to last longer than Cav. Since, it is unlikely we would trigger our GA early by wonders, it may be handy having the GA just as we begin to build Panzers. Islands may be OK, but I have a personal distaste for the fact that you can't airlift an army (or for that matter a leader). I will go with whatever you take Arathorn.

BTW, I would think that the 5CC, always at war, would be tougher than 100K(from a survivability stand point)

I'll start LotR 5 this weekend.

Continents, small map, deity, Germany.

Feelings about barbs? They were a mixed curse in LotR4 and LK's first experience. I'm not 100% certain I want to disable everything but conquest. Part of the challenge (a la TH2) is to win "our way" before any of the evil AI civs can win any way at all.

Players:
Arathorn
meldor
Jaffa
T-hawk

Lee, you in or out?

Well, I can't believe how fast this one filled!

Yes, I am in. With just 5 cities, I don't mind optimizing cities, squeezing 1 extra food, etc.

As for the barbs, please NONE or Sedantary like I did in LK31. It was so tiresome of having to escort every single worker that left our territory.

:crazyeye: Let's end the ultimate 5cc debate. Marla's world map in Japan starting isolated. A challenge to even get to 5 cities, as by the time map-making arrives - China as fillled that area.

No kidding on the fast fill up. I checked earlier today and the 5CC Deity conquest idea hadn't even been floated yet. On a tiny map, I would have been in... but too late now! Well, there's always next time.

1st reasonable start position: Saw 3 borders in 3900 BC -- abandoned. 2nd reasonable start position -- snuck attacked by Babylon in 3600 BC and died. 3rd quasi-reasonable start position started but I've been pretty buried at work.
