Lua.log error nightmare. Please help!

I disabled all non-DLC mods, and have uninstalled and reinstalled Civ 6, but when I try and create a new game, several leader icons and leaders are not showing what they show (often just question marks), and when I try and load the game, I get a "see Lua.log" error and the game crashes. How can this be resolved? Thanks!

Where is the lua.log located? I tried checking in \Library\Application Support\SM's Civ VI\Logs\

but it doesn't seem to be there?
