[MOD] Age of Discovery II

I have found the same problems with the target amount changing for all of the victory conditions. I believe it has to do with saving your game and exiting. Everytime I have done this I come back in to resume my saved game and the victory conditions have reset to default values. Therefore on the the next turn usually one of the AI's win by economic victory.

Thanks for all the bug reports. They are being addressed. :)

Just an FYI for Vista users - somehow my Mods folder was marked as 'read only', which had to be disabled before I could start unzipping this mod. You might have to run your Unzipping program in Administrator mode. Unzipping the mod now, can't wait to try it - do I need to patch the game first, or are any patches included in the zip?

You need to install Firaxis patch 1.01f. :)

Perhaps this is a foolish question but where can I get a list of the major changes to gameplay the mod makes? I've read the changelog in 1.09, but it only lists the changes between 1.07, 1.08, and 1.09. Since I've never played with the mod before, I have no idea what was done before 1.07.

For example; I hear there are various victory conditions now (industrial, etc) but I can't find this documented anywhere. Maybe the entire changelog should be included in the download not just the most recent changes.

So can anyone point me to a list of all the major changes, victory conditions, etc?

The full changelog is always on the first post of this thread (and other notification threads). :)

Dale, I'm running into a problem with the WOI while playing AOD2, and I'm not sure of the problem lies in the mod or in the underlying C4C 1.01, but it's annoying as hell. Actually two problems, but one of them only makes the WOI too easy -- or it would, except for the other problem, which makes it almost impossible.

First of all, the Royal Navy sits there adjacent to my fortresses, which blast away at their ships and end up sinking a number of them, drowning lots of REF troops. At least I think that's what's happening, because I'll check the Revolution Advisor the next turn and see the REF down to maybe a third to half of what it started as, when I've hardly killed any of them. That's kind of silly, don't you think? I'm not sure what the solution is; maybe make it impossible for fortress guns to actually sink ships? Just damage them, at which point you can hit them with your own SOTL.

But the other problem. After the REF is down to just a few units, it disappears. The Rev. advisor tells me they have only a few more units left, but they're somewhere in the New World, God knows where, and I have to go hunt them down. I've found actual settlements built by REF units, where a Regular or a Dragoon has been turned into a colony. I've found them in small groups attacking an Indian tribe that I had a DP with and that declared war on the King after the WOI started. (That could be resolved by counting the DOI as me declaring war on the King rather than vice-versa, so the DP isn't invoked.) It's just a horrid pain to have to go searching the world for those last few units, and every time I've declared independence and mostly clobbered the REF, I've given up and left the game once it reaches this stage.

Dale has fixed this/these probs in latest ver.

Thank goodness too :p

I had the exact same problems many times. You'd build up some big army for your DOI based on how many troops the revolution advisor said you were up against... then end up fighting maybe half that number. After you totally mop the floor with them, you find out they have a galleon parked in some obscure corner of the world with one regular inside and you spend 30 turns tracking them down.

It's like England had one row boat of soldiers hiding off the coast of northern greenland, and the USA lost the war of independence because they couldn't find em :p

Very happy that Dale's fixed this!

Hi there,

I have a problem since I extracted 1.09b into the mod-folder.
In 1.08 everything was ok. Now I can't see any text which should be in the dialog-screens....?
When I start a new game, I meet the first tribe, the dialog opens but there is no text and so is nothing to click :crazyeye:
The initial dialog (who you are and what to do) has text in it.

I installed 1.01 and Mod 1.09. Without mod everything is fine (but the mod is more fun :goodjob:)

I checked the first page of this topic, but it lists only the v1.08 changes/additions. Maybe I'm missing something, but that's why I asked a similar question above.

Where can I find the v1.09b changes (specifically) or the complete change log?

OK, Dale. Thanks for sending me over to the proper place.

Really appreciate you AoD mods--without them, I wouldn't be playing Civ4Col much (if any).

I installed the mod and for the first 40 years, the mod was very impressive. It ran into a snag as time went on, however. I noticed the AI production and GNP hit a cieling and couldn't get any higher. I turned on the world editor to see what had happened, and found the problem. For some reason, the AI were either not building any more ships or were simply not using them.

The spanish had only one ship, despite numerous colonies, and the Chinese had 4 privateers and 2 galleons sitting in a distant corner of the map in the arctic north (the Chinese are in the southern hemisphere, and have no colonies north). Most of the other Colonizing powers were subject to the same stupidity. As a result, everything element of growth in my empire went spiraling upward while everyone else remained stagnant. Does anyone know what's going on?

Also, this was a problem in my previous game with this mod, and I also encountered the additional problem of every AI on the map being pleased with every other AI on the map, so there were no wars. So I started over, turned the difficulty to max and turned aggressive AI on. This solved the problem of a peaceloving world, but all of the other powers still couldn't get past about the 1530's mark of paralyzed growth.

Despite being a longtime Civ fan, and loving C4C's economy-management aspects, I was ready to give up on the game because of the absurdity of, say, being moved to kill off my specialists in order to boost Liberty Bell production, and the bummer that the kind of growth I wanted to pursue was, in general, in fact detrimental to winning, et cetera--and now with this mod, and the extra victory conditions, I can play just the way I like. Thank you!

I tried AoD1.08 with latest patch (the only one we'll see in fact) and at the end of the game (near revolution) there is a huge problem getting money from natives. It seems they don't replenish their stock of gold like it was in AoD1.07 + no patch.

What's the problem? Latest patch or newest AoD release?
