I have noticed that since the new update to Civ V heralding a new launcher and many ingame changes, that the Civ V SDK no longer allows me to open the map builder. The SDK launcher will open up and when you select map builder, the Civ V launcher will open, the SDK launcher will close and the map builder will begin loading. However, it will get stuck in some sort of limbo where it won't keep loading, and when you click on the window, the SDK crashes and needs to be force closed.

I would also like to mention that even if you close the Civ V launcher in this state, and then later close the SDK window, Steam will still think Civ V is open and you will be forced to close Civ V with task manager (but it won't be a running application but rather a background process, which is weird).

TLDR: Civ V SDK no longer works with the new Civ V launcher update.

In order to fix this problem you need to revert to the previous launcher. Here's how to do so:
Open up Steam and navigate to your LIBRARY.
Right click on the game in your library and choose "Properties."
Selected the "BETAS" tab.
In the text box to "Enter beta access for to unlock private beta:" enter the password "ineedlegacyaccess".
Click on the "CHECK CODE" button.
You should see a confirmation message that access has been granted.
If not already selected in the drop down, select "legacy" and click close.

Hi, I have the same problem and I tried to fix it with your solution but it didn't work... the new launcher still appears, maybe it can't be overrided ?
Anyway, thanks for helping us ;)

Works for me, but I need to change the instructions:
