Newb needs help Automating trade

Hello everyone. Newb here. Been playing Colonization for about a week now and can't finish a game because I can't figure out how the trade system works. I fallow the instructions but aparently I'm an idiot. Please help so I can enjoy this game instead of just starting a new map everytime I get too many wagons to manage.

Note: I've used your search engine with no luck. I've even used youtube and can't find any answers.
