First of all, thanks to Markus for making Civ 5 addicting as hell, and as it should have been out of the box. Major props to him for his ongoing efforts.

Just for my own curiousity and possibly to give Markus some additional feedback outside of the main thread, I thought I'd start up an informal poll as to gauge various various gameplay aspects.

Any input would be appreciated!

1. Favorite NIGHT's Civ overall?

2. Favorite Unique Building?

3. Favorite Unique Unit?

4. Most often used (as in, won with) victory condition?

5. Most commonly played: Map size, map type, game speed, difficulty level?

6. Do you play your games out to the bitter end, or play till its clear you are going to ultimately win/lose?

7. What era do your typical games end (with a victor) ?

8. What area(s) of the game do you think the mod should focus on in the future?

9. What policy tree do you feel is must have, and what one is low priority?

10. In your games, ideally do you like to :

A. Feel challenged by the AI; you want the game to be very fair, yet competitive. You don't mind losing a game or two.

B. You are a god at this game. You want the AI to have every stats advantage possible, cuz they are going to need it, and most likely you will still crush them.

C. You want want to win ultimately, you love to steamroll the AI and have a glorious uber empire.

D. None of the above.

11. Anything else to say?

1. This is a tough one. Can't answer.
2. Entrepot :crazyeye:
3. Jaguar
4. Science
5. Small, Continents/Pangaea, Standard, Prince
6. Most of my games end out of my boredom to continue.
7. Modern era
8. Diplomacy. It is better than in vanilla though.
9. Top priority: Tradition (in the early game). Low priority: they all have their uses, but commerce if you are landlocked.
10. A
11. Markus did a great job on NIGHTS. :goodjob:

1. Has to be either Napoleon, Ramesses.

2. France's Bibliotheque, or Egypt's Entrepot.

3. I'm not very big on the military side of the game, but I'd have to say China's Chu Ko Nu is fantastic for taking out cities with limited ranged support. Like I said, though, I hardly ever use military units, unless absolutely necessary. The Musketeer of France is also pretty decent.

4. When I started playing vanilla Civ V (my first Civ game . . .crucify me :crazyeye:), I would always attempt to go for a military/Domination victory, but since starting NiGHTS, it's been Science, Science, Science.

5. Huge, 8 civs, 10 CS, PW3 or Pangaea, Standard, Prince. I like giant maps in which to create vast empires. This is why I stopped going for military victories, because the map is often populated by sprawling, ridiculously huge civs. I'm much more a fan of the process of building up my economy and researching new technologies than actually putting them to use. This is also why I LOVE NiGHTS so much- there seems to be an added emphasis on the Builder side of things. In fact, I'm usually able to make it into the early/mid Industrial era before anyone issues a DoW against me.

6. Usually to the bitter end. Seeing the spaceship lift off, while entire swathes of land are obscured as the military super power(s) bears down on my peaceful kingdom.

7. Modern.

8. Beef up the AI's ability to tech! Perhaps I need to move up in difficulty, but it appears as though the AI NEVER attempts a science victory. They're constantly vying for the CSs, wasting thousands and thousands of gold- and I've never seen one try to pull of a Diplomatic victory, either. What gives? The AI seems to only be interested in amassing armies.

9. I began playing Civ NiGHTS either the day of, or a day or so after, the release of 11.2, so I don't have much reference as I'm still by and large learning the intricacies of your mod (and Civ V itself, as I didn't play long before looking for a mod to improve it ;)), but I'd have to say Rationalism, or Order. Those two seem to work out the best for me when I invest a lot of policies into a limited number of trees. Otherwise, it's usually a bit of Tradition, a bit of Piety, and lots of Order and/or Rationalism. I have never chosen Honor, and Commerce I usually reserve for games I'm struggling economically with.

10. A bit of A and a smidgen of C. I enjoy building up vast uberpires, but I don't like it when I feel as though I'm competing against utterly incompetent opponents. At the same time, I find it annoying to fight against an enemy who seems to receive ridiculous bonuses and doesn't really rely on the same mechanics/play by the same rules as the player. AI placing a bunch of cities seemingly willy-nilly, and yet still coming out with ramped up manufacturing, science, and crop yield is just lame. But, I do understand the some of the AI's limitations (mostly through reading these boards), so I know the bonuses for them are necessary, even against newbs such as myself. It just feels slightly more artificial, though.

11. I find myself unwilling to play come Wednesday/Thursday, as by that point the author has usually offered tantalizing details from the next update that I simply can't play without after reading of them :D
This is an amazing mod, and I hope you never burn yourself out on it. Weekly updates and hotfixes in-between . . .what is this, Google Chrome? It's difficult to believe one guy pushes all of this out.

In all seriousness, thank you very much for envisioning this massive overhaul and seeing it to fruition, Markus. I feel like I can play Civ V any way I like, now, as opposed to before in vanilla, where it was either have a standing army and get to work conquering or be DoW'd before turn ~60.

P.S.
Sorry for the rambling . . .I do it out of love!! :p

I've never played the Civilization series until here recently. I was a big fan of the Toal War series, but I'm not liking the direction that the series is taking. But that's a completely different set of issues for a completely different forum....
1. I like all of them. I tend to favor the English, French, and Russians though.
2. I like the Wat and Dunn.
3. Cho-Ku-Nu, Longbow, and Mongolian horse archer (can't remember name off the top of my head)
4. I haven't won a game yet (even on easy), but I keep trying. I'm still pretty new to the game
5. Standard, pangea, standard (sometimes epic), easy
6. Sometimes I play until the bitter end. Nothing like seeing an official declaration that you lost. The last game I quit because India had 1/2 of the science victory completed and I was barely in the Industrial era.
7. I typically lose in the modern era.
8. It'd be cool if there were more unique units for each nation.
9. Patronage is usually low for me. Perhaps since I lose every game, I should change that...
10. A. Feel challenged by the AI; you want the game to be very fair, yet competitive. You don't mind losing a game or two.
11. Even though I'm not very good at the game, this mod is awesome. I like how citizens add to happiness and military decreases it. It's all about perspective!

Thanks for all of your work; I'm sure it took a lot of effort.

1. Japan (purely for their music).

2. Egyptian Entrepot

3. Probably the Cho Ko Nu

4. Science

5. Standard/Continents or Fractal/Immortal

6. Until I find something that needs modding. ;)

7. Industrial (not because I've won, just to re-test any changes I've made).

8. Diplomacy.

9. Rationalism is a must-have on the higher levels, I don't usually need Honor.

10. A.

11. Fun poll. :) Always interesting to learn about the different playstyles and which aspects of the mod people enjoy or feel needs work. Thanks for playing everyone. :D

1. Before the removal of the unique abilities (I mean those trait combinations) some weeks ago: Egypt. Now... none :-/

2. Egypt Entrepot (did not try that many since the new UB were implemented)

3. Egypt War Chariot

4. Domination, Destruction, Demolition!

5. Standard/Large, Perfect World 3 or Pangea, Standard speed, Emperor

6. Mostly to the bitter end, but sometimes I'm just pissed off by being crushed and quit ;)

7. Future

8. Making the AI cleverer (in warfare at least). In NiGHTS I never had a really good fight or a devastating siege of my capital.

9. Piety and Rationalism are must have. I seldomly unlock Honor, even though I mostly go for warfare/domination victory.

10. 80% C, 20% A ;)

11. Just thank you Markus :)

Forgot to answer my own poll.

1. France

2. Portal Tomb

3. Roman Legion - nothing like a pwnage soldier that also is a worker.

4. Conquest/Domination

5. Large maps, continents, epic, prince or emperor

6. Play till the bitter end.

7. Modern

8. More diplomatic options, more military units and promotions, elite and green units, etc.

9. Commerce. Cash is king in this game (maybe too much :p)

10. 50% A, the other 50% C.

11. Thanks Markus.

1. Arabia and Inca

2. Bazaar

3. Legion

4. Science

5. Large, (Small) Continents, Epic, King

6. I usually finish when I lose the motivation to go on within the specific game, independent of the game situation itself. At some point everything is simply determined - that is usually when I quit.

7. Modern era

8. DIPLOMACY! :)

9. Anything that boosts cash or science output.

10. A!

11. CiV NiGHTS freaking rules! :king:

1. Favorite NIGHT's Civ overall?
Haven't played too much with this version,
but I dislike Germany, Egypt, 'cause their UB don't have the food carry over
and Imho there isn't that much difference or better said the civ bonus is very little and often only noticeable in the first age. After some buildings production modifier or bonus gold/hammer on tiles is far bigger than the civ bonus.

2. Favorite Unique Building?
the most are well, exceptions are the german, egypt, english ones.

3. Favorite Unique Unit?
jaguar,legion,samurai

4. Most often used (as in, won with) victory condition?[/B]
I disable all victory conditions
5. Most commonly played: Map size, map type, game speed, difficulty level?

Large, Pangäa/Continents, Epic, 4-6
6. Do you play your games out to the bitter end, or play till its clear you are going to ultimately win/lose?

I set my own goals and end a game, when I don't want to play it further
7. What era do your typical games end (with a victor) ?
industrial/modern
8. What area(s) of the game do you think the mod should focus on in the future?
Classical age - lack of new units and many quite senseless wonders
Buildings - too strong expensive curve, too productive cities in the end, too many +production buildings
Pre Artillery/Air warfare - to easy to defend
9. What policy tree do you feel is must have, and what one is low priority?
- piety : fanaticism , meditation ( if landlocked ), Reformation ( later, when some wonders in several cities were build ), Slavery ( when capital has 15+pops)
- commerce : depending on coastal cities, up to hegemony in the begin, later maybe -15% purchase and -15% maintenance
- Honor : basic to fight barbars and -30% unit maintenance later
- Order : Patrionism ( +10 culture / wonder ) , it's the first tree I complete for +hammer, +science for specialists
- Rationalism : Basic for 15% science, later secularism for -20% policy-culture cost and private schooling , it's the second tree, where I go deeper

- Tradition : if not coastal capital and real lack of production, maybe get then free worker, but no reason to go deeper - normally I don't get this tree, except I have later too less coal / aluminium then I go for the 100% more quantity
- Patronage : it's very weak, and maybe get later the halve food for specialists, which is too deep in the tree

10. In your games, ideally do you like to :

C. You want want to win ultimately, you love to steamroll the AI and have a glorious uber empire.

yes, this one

11. Anything else to say?[/QUOTE]

become far better since my last plays half ago and of course far better than vanilla. Maybe limit the duration of barbarian units to 50-100 turns ( epic speed ), so that those barbarian forces vanish with the early medieval, if not upgraded.

Great, this mod put me back to ciV!
I skipped some questions to which I have no opinion.

4. Most often used (as in, won with) victory condition?
I quit when I'm sure I'll win, but I usually go for domination.

5. Most commonly played: Map size, map type, game speed, difficulty level?
Standard sized Pangaea, Standard speed, Immortal difficulty

7. What era do your typical games end (with a victor) ?
Renaissance

8. What area(s) of the game do you think the mod should focus on in the future?
Personally, I think it might be more fun to add more UUs, UBs, UPs and so forth, even if doing so will make some civs clearly stronger/weaker than some others. When I see Rome, I'd rather be afraid of their early game might than feel, "OK, just Legions."

9. What policy tree do you feel is must have, and what one is low priority?
Piety. Early Fanaticism = Win.

10. In your games, ideally do you like to :
This --> A. Feel challenged by the AI

11. Anything else to say?
Many thanks to Markus.
