NinNES I: Antiquity Broken

From: Athens
To: Troy

No. We will not submit to your outrageous demands. We were originally going to try to improve relations, but it seems that you simply do not know the meaning of "peace".
From: Troy
To: Athens

Then so be it. I, Priam the Third, hereby do declare that a state of war now exists between Troy and the city of Athens. Let it be known, that we will not attack your homelands due to this renewed state of war.

To: Calabria:
From: Alba Longa

King Atys will extend the same offer, you have the rights to everything in Italy south of our current borders.
To: Alba Longa
From: Venetia

We trust this does not imply that your nation shall encroach upon our lands upon the Patavos (Po).

To: Thuringia
From: Venetia

We greet our northern neighbors, and bring good tidings. We accept cooperation in trade, suggesting Venetian mullet in return for Thuringian venison. Furthermore, we would inquire if the Thuringian nation would agree to a cooperative pact of alliance.

To: Troy
From: Phoenicia

We can accept that you have a quarrel with the Athenians. However, our trade with them will continue uninterrupted. Our trade ships will be flying our flag, and if any of them are disturbed, you will see firsthand the might of our unparalled navy.

Just make sure your merchants steer away from the Athenian colonies near Troy and they will have nothing to fear in our fleet and army. We only seek to protect Troy from the insidious Greek cities.

To: Veneti
From: Thuringia

We appreciate the warm welcome you've given our scouts and gladly accept the trade aggreement. Our people are eager to travel even farther down the south to explore this foreign lands. The first traders will also bring a gift of appreciation, that will sign our pact.

Well, I suppose this rush makes up for the lull in activity.

From: Medea
To: Scythia

We are sorry to disappoint your new nation, but we do not have timber in our possession. Perhaps we can work out another trade in the future though? We do have possession of a handful of items you may be interested in.

From: Greek League
To: Troy

Let it be known that any aggresion from Troy upon our countrymen in Athens will be viewed most disfavorably. We can accept hostility, war to some degree, but the moment a Trojan encroaches on Greek land we will aid our brethren.

Quick note that while Macedonia still has a backwards army, he reformed his society last turn. That means they are pretty much equal economically and scientifically.

To: Medea
From: Scythia

What sort of trading resources do you have? We are most interested in knowing...

From Macedonia
To Greek League:

We have warned Troy to not attack the Greek Mainland. They told us that they have accepted to not attack the Greek Mainland and only the colonies of Athens. As Greeks, we might be interested to join the League. What are the goals of your League and how it works?

From: Medea
To: Scythia

We are in possession of salt, copper, and stone primarily. Are any of those to your interest?

From: Greek League
To: Macedonia

The Greek League is essentially a defensive pact between ourselves. We were humiliated after the first Trojan War, and vowed to not let ourselves be defeated again. That is our only goal, preventing foreigners in Greece. We are an extremely loose coalition, and rarely agree on anything. Troy is the exception.

On the subject of Troy, we are most interested in you intelligence. You say Troy will not attack Athens proper, only her colonies? Well, that is Athens nevertheless. We could understand the Trojans warning against future expansion perhaps, but cannot accept legitimate colonies being conquered for the glory of Troy!

On another note, are you officially requesting admission into our league? You are (in our opinion) barely Greeks, being closer to our northern cousins. Yet, cousins are still family. If you were to make an official admission request, we would vote amongst ourselves.

From Macedonia
To Greeks:

We shall request to enter the League next turn. This year we have to finish something.

To: Medea
From: Scythia

We desire some salt. Perhaps some horses (x1) for some salt (x2)? We believe horses are much more valuable than salt, but if you disagree, please tell us up front.

From: Medea
To: Scythia

You are correct of course. Salt is in abundance here, and horses are not.

We shall begin sending our caravans along the coast to meet with you.

Salt: +1 EP

From: Alba Longa
To: Troy

We will not declare war unless you want our help, but consider the Alba Longan Army ready.

@Nintz: Do I have to re-send in orders directing horses to Medea, or can you just take care of that?

I'll take care of it. No one else seems to include trades in their orders.

To: Eastern Moors
From: Tetwan

We ask you again, our brothers, to join us under the one true Moorish King, Uksintas. Šrfimalik himself has chosen Uksintas to be the only ruler of all Moors, and if you don’t submit to his will… Well, there are other ways of gaining power than by mere discussion. Think on that.

Rightful colony? Control of previously free territory for 5 years automatically makes it a "rightful colony" of Athens? Then that means that Crete is a pure part of Troy, and that there is no rebellions and that every country sees it as a "rightful colony" of Troy. This is not true. All we demand is that the colonies which could be used to supply or camp hostile armies in another Siege of Troy, be given to Troy.

We do not want this to escalate. If the Greek League declares war, then we will accept your aid. If it does not, then your soldiers should stay in their own lands.
