No choice for free tech after philosophy with MP

When playing multiplayer you can't choose beforehand what tech to research. You'll have to change it manually.

This normally isn't a problem, except when researching philosophy for the first time: you get a free tech. But you can't choose it, because the computer chooses automatically and you can't change it afterwards since you get it immediately.

That's a PBEM. There you have the window to choose the next tech.

Select Philosophy on the tech advisor screen then hold down ctrl to choose the next tech you want to research (thus getting it for free if you do get philosophy first).
