Noob needs military strength

I'm a pansy.

I always focus so hard on landgrabbing and production of commerce, but I never seem to be able to fit in military production into my scheme.

I was looking for the "Tell them Ragnar has WMDs" command but I couldn't find it.

Should I dedicate a city to nothing but military unit production?

Which unit types should I produce early on if I intend to both intimidate and perhaps overpower an enemy civ?

BTW I play on Settler. I know. I suck cheese.

Wrong forum. A simple answer to your question, is to build any unit, it all works. A warrior could eventually be a tank, so its all taken into account.
