Official site updated

It seems that the latest patch is not compatible with the web site... it stills says that Spain transitioned into a democracy in 1969.

Unfortunately, we had to wait until 1975, 5 years of peaceful transition after the death of dictator Franco in 1970.

Civilopedia has already been patched :)

But no revolt involved. It was a strange, peaceful transition.

Now we have a Constitutional Monarchy, but the king's tasks are almost symbolic.

Unfortunately, at this moment more than 50% of the Parliament members are from a single coalition, and they support Bush and Blair's theories about Irak.

War weariness is already present here, as the vast majority of Spain is against the war, and our presindent, Aznar, is unable to convince anyone about the "reasons" for an attack...

(lots of misspellings and serious damage to English grammar above, I suppose... sorry for that)

EDIT: to include quote

EDIT2: BTW, in an attempt to express his gratitude to Spanish government for supporting USA's war plans, Jeff Bush call us "La Republica de España". Spain is a Monarchy, not a Republic.
Jeff, you have to study more...

As is always the case! I don't think civ3.com gets updated a lot... You'll find virtually everything here before it's on civ3.com...

Just in case anyone wants to avoid the multiple hour long mistake I've just made, make sure you add resources to the China map -- it's completely bereft of them, and the game is no fun without them. :(

Heh, when the producer of Civ3 asked me if it's okay to host the map on their site, I said he should get the updated version from the maps area here, but apparently he didn't. He's hosting my fairly outdated version, and it was made as a modder's map. I'm not sure if they added start locaitons or anything.

That's because this is one of the places the civ3.com people look for new content.

They have two choices when it comes to adding content. Either they take all-comers or they act as an editing service, choosing appropriate material from other sites. If they take all-comers, they will be inundated with material, much of which is rubbish. If they let other people (eg. Civfanatics) do that, they can choose whatever content fits their own site best. In this way, they are providing a service to their players - they're cutting out the maps that most of them wouldn't want anyway.

I posted the Venus map here and on Apolyton. A few weeks later, I heard from Firaxis, asking me if I'd object to its going on civ3.com. Needless to say, I didn't, and about a week later it appeared.

So if you look here, you almost certainly will see what will be on civ3.com in 3 months' time. However, you'll also see a ton of stuff that won't be.

Thanks for letting us know. Just to clear it up, I wasn't in any way having a go at you -- the map is great! It's just odd that they didn't notice it was missing such crucial things as resources, and yes, starting locations too -- though they are added randomly.

I edited it to give starting locations for the Mongols, Indians, Koreans, Chinese and Japanese... though I made out that the Japanese had somehow relocated to SE Asia... :) I also did a bit of editing of Civ & city names. I can provide a link to download it if anyone wants.

But there's one thing your China map is for sure -- BIG. I didn't end up finishing the game I started on it. It'll have to wait to become some epic game, some three day weekend... :)

I'm glad you enjoy it. Gives me some inspiration to get off my butt and finish the scenario version of it, but there's so much work involved in implementing 8 second century factions with all the customizing. :D

Please forward me the link for the latest version of the China map and I will make certain that it is updated...

One of two things likely happened: it either contained modified rules that got discarded when close/saving by accident, or I did in fact nab an incorrect version from the forums.

In either case I would, of course, like to correct this as soon as possible.

thanks in advance,

*Ahem*. I think you mean *Jeb* Bush? ;) I'm sorry, I just get a kick out of it when a person posts to correct someone else's mistake and makes one of his own. Never fails.

I'm not trying to flame, but my initial thought was "is your Spanish as good as Alkar's English?" :D

LOL. I came soooo close to putting a PS disclaimer on the end saying something like 'honestly, no offense, my Spanish is limited to No habla espanol so I'm a fine one to talk.' There was supposed to be a winky smiley in there somewhere, though.

In any case, I *was* just being silly.

Renata <--- speaks German, though!

Jeb Bush was right, Spain isnt a monarchy anymore, its more like a Republic...... you already said the king's tasks are mostly symbolic and its the parlament and the presidents the ones who make the decisions now, so its not a monarchy anymore even if spain likes to call itself a "constitutional monarchy" or whatever name has, its a republic.
